I'm hoping for either Ernie or Graeme to sneak into the final group tomorrow (with Woods).

There's a reason their players all start to play well and get wins early on in their relationship because they're able to clean up the swing quickly but then they get too technical and keep working on things when the player needs to build confidence in the swing they have and manage their misses and just go play golf.

I thought Wie was working with David Leadbetter?

I think he did it on purpose to see if people were reading, Like the way he calls "Eric" "icas".

Anyway, Johnson Pornstache bogey's 18 and Tiger makes . . . surprise, a birdie.

Charlie Wi just stacked, tilted and fell on his face yet again! He is just painful to watch. I feel bad for him when he crashes and burns but this is starting to get ridiculous. It's almost guaranteed that once he is under any pressure he falls apart...playing along with Tiger was too much for him. Poor guy needs a mental coach big time!...maybe a few. On a non charllie note, I want Tiger to win to just shut people up but I also want Ernie to win for the same reason. Who do I root for? Both I guess

Apparently, Tiger does still intimidate some golfers...

I honestly think it has less to do with playing alongside Tiger as it did playing with the huge gallery.  Yesterday he was almost out there by himself.

Up until the 15th I thought Tiger was going to walk away with it.  Obviously it's a different game now.  We'll see how Tiger's swing holds up under the pressure of only having a 1-stroke lead tomorrow.

Yup, McDowell looked really good today, except for a cold putter. Tiger might need those two strokes tomorrow.

McDowell has beat Tiger down the stretch before, he can do it again. Tiger has never looked better though.

Well, not in the last couple years, anyway. McDowell had a bad 2011 himself, so this would be a breakthrough win for either of them. But they're not far enough ahead of the pack to assume one of them will win. Even Ernie is within striking distance. One thing I totally disagree with the commentators about is that Tiger needs a win here to give him confidence for the Masters. Tiger will win or lose, in regular events and in majors, based on the state of his game. He has plenty of confidence, especially at Augusta, and he thrives on pressure. If he doesn't win, it's because his game, especially his putting, is still not as consistent as it used to be. It's not because he can't stand up to McDowell or Schwartzel.

That is true.  Of course he did it when he was at the zenith of his career year and Tiger had not yet emerged from his self-induced and injury-induced trough.  Interesting to see if he can stare Tiger down when Tiger is playing nearer his peak.

Regarding Wi's poor pay today, Dufner is another one who seems to be unable to play worth a darn on weekends these days.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Too bad, I was rooting for Wi to win a bit. If only to get the monkey off his back.

I know...I don't dislike the guy at all.  He is pretty good golfer, and seems like a genuine nice guy...But maybe he is almost too nice to win.  Maybe he needs to go bang some hookers and it will have the opposite affect that it had on Tiger.  Maybe he'll just start dropping f bombs and kicking ass!  It's like he needs an alter ego

If you are speaking of the one that almost made it into the neighbors pool, they said on air that some idiot yelled something right at the top of his swing... Joe Lacava yelled "Shut up over there" afterwards.  I couldn't hear it in the playback though...so it couldn't have been too loud.  Looked like a flat out double cross to me.  I know those quite well!

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
