The guys on tour are some of the best players in the world, but golf is still not an easy game.  VERY HARD TO CONSISTENTLY SHOOT GOOD SCORES.  You don`t have to be off by much to go from being under par to struggling to shoot par on the course they play.

As a 7 h'capper, you might be lucky to shoot 80-85 on a good day on the set-ups they play and 90-100+ on the tougher courses when things are not going right.

All pros (and now even Tiger) have ups and downs with their game.  I think it is unrealistic to even expect the top players to always be in contention week in and week out, year after year.  Sure, some guys seem to be up there most weeks for a period of time, but then fade back to more of the middle of the pack (or worse) for a period.
