Rory shot a 74 on Day 1, then turns around with a Day 2 meltdown, carding a 79.  I'm surprised at this two-tournament slump for him.  He's the last guy I would predict to suffer this type of "string."

Funny enough, Rory threw his club on the 18th green after the first round.  Where is the up-roar for such classless behaviour?

Luke Donald looked sharp.  It'll be interesting to watch how the tournament unfolds over the weekend.

Good question. Anyone who throws a club in anger doesn't deserve to play this game on a professional level. Ok, I'm joking. In all seriousness, will this stop the comparisons to Tiger? Has TW ever missed two cuts in a row? Hasn't he only missed 8 cuts his entire career?

Eh I personally think that he is overrated. When he is good hes really good, but when he is bad he is terrible

With more and more wins will come more and more (sometimes hypocritical) criticism.

Terrible?  I wouldn't classify missing the cut as terrible.  More like below average or so.

If i can recall from long, long ago, the child's  nursery rhyme went like this.

There was a little girl who had a little curl

right in the middle of her forehead

when she was good, she was very very good

but when she was bad

she was horrid.

just say'in.

so wtf if rory misses some cuts by a mile...are we really giving points for second place (world ranks be damned).....is the mantra of every pga golfer that "it is all about winning" the biggest lie in the game?

i'd rather have the talent to blow away the field and throw up an epic fail once in a while than the guy who competes every week but can't win a big one....my 2 cents

When the #1 player in the world - and the crowned prince - misses two cuts in a row, it's noteworthy.  Frankly, I agree with his own words where he said he's just gotten away from putting time into practice.  I don't blame him at his age with all that money.

It seems like they lost control over the greens today, Ernie Els is not pleased with it: " I'm fed up with it ... It's not my bloody job doing it. It's their job. They have been around a long time, I'm really disappointed with it."

Does Luke Donald have any history of final round collapses?  Seems like he's a lock to be world #1 after tomorrow.  He only needs to finish solo 8th, and he's the leader by 2 strokes.

I think Ernie's house at Wentworth might soon be up for sale! He was hot as a pistol.

"Really, I am pissed off," Els said. "I've asked them to put water on the bloody greens and then I spoke to J.P. (chief European Tour referee John Paramor) coming up the 15th and he said, 'We did water it last night.' I said you have to triple that. You have a damn 30mph easterly breeze blowing so put ****ing water on the greens."
"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. So now we have another situation and the guys aren't going to be very happy. It is difficult enough as it is with conditions the way they are but the tour has really got to play the ball now, and the greens staff. I have been asking both to play ball with me for a while now and I can't keep taking this, and at some point they have to start listening."

Els added that talking to some tour officials was "like talking to this wall behind me."

PS: I love Ernie, but can never watch him doing an interview without thinking about Pik the Gym Instructor.

Could be a good shootout tomorrow between Justin and Luke. As usual, Luke is a master at scrambling from all around the course. He's missed some shots here and there, but saved par like only he can do.

Don't be so hard on Rory. It is ignorant to ever say that he is terrible. He's world number one.

Admittedly I haven't paid close attention to this championship because of Colonial!

Not much at all, and certainly not recently. Luke led the PGA Tour in final round scoring average last year, and is third in the category so far in 2012. However, the last time he really faltered on the final day with a chance at victory was at this tournament two years ago.

In 2010, Donald made it to the 17th tee on Sunday tied with Simon Khan, who was already in the clubhouse. Wentworth finishes with two par-fives, so one must have been confident in Donald's chances to win. Instead, he drove his ball well into the trees, couldn't find the fairway with his second shot, left his third short and right of the green, made a bad pitch with his fourth, then three-putted for double bogey. He lost to Khan by a stroke.

Still, I don't see how Luke will finish worse than second tomorrow, and wrap up the world number one until probably the US Open.
