Do you mark your golf ball?  If so, how do you mark it?

I've marked mine in various subtle ways over the years.  It wasn't until this past year that my ball marking took a drastic turn for the dramatic for many various reasons. Mostly in fun...

004.jpg

I write it on both sides...........big letters.

There's no way my ball can be mistakenly hit by another golfer...LOL    I've had club members who know my mark return my lost balls to me.   They return it with a big laugh as they toss it to me saying...... "I found one of your sh!t balls" .   Funny stuff.  Nobody wants to keep them....

How do you mark?

I don't mark them.  I don't see the point.  If I'm playing with people, it's not that hard to know which ball is yours

In my bag:
Driver - Diablo Octane 10.5*
Fairway Wood - Diablo Octane 15*
Hybrid -  Edge 21*
Irons - X20's 4I - 9I
Wedges - X20's PW/SW
Putter - White Ice 1
Ball - Warbird

the point of marking them is so you know which is yours from ANY ball, really.  I don't have to physically pick my ball up and check to see if its the right number and everything like a lot of people end up doing.

I draw faces on my golf balls. Sometimes a simple two dots and curved line for eyes and a mouth. Sometimes I'll make him a pirate with an eye patch or Harry potter with glasses and a lightning bolt scar. The best part is when I walk up to my ball and it's smiling back at me.

I use a smiley face.  Keeps me laughing and takes my mind off the previous shot.  If I am feeling lazy a straight line under the number does the trick.

I beg to differ.....most people remember the brand, but forget which number half the time.  Even if they remember the brand and number......and hit it......they find a different model.

Lately, I've been putting a red dot on both sides of the name (Top-Flite), but I've marked my balls in other ways before.

I put a V on mine on both sides.  If it's a callaway i just put it right outside the V that's there.

Geeezus Buckeye, how the heck to hit the ball like that, with all the writing? LOL

When I play in Tournaments, we have to mark our balls, and each have to identify our balls in our group on the first tee.

I like very minimal markings on mine. Just a black dot next to the number.

I play non-white balls, so it's always easy to spot mine

Just getting the red ink all over my club faces would be enough to annoy me...

i "sign" my ball with my initials on both sides w/ a red sharpie.  its not as big as sh!t ball up there, but its somewhat close.   it works out great because i can see the ball is mine from 10+ yards away.  i see people pick up balls to identify them all the time, and i HATE that.  i've even had a-holes pick up my ball, with the big read scribble on it, to check who's it is!   argh!  call it one of my pet peeves.

though as someone mentioned above, i do have a couple red marks on my driver, but its minor.

In my Grom Stand bag:

Driver: Ping G20, 8.5 Tour Stiff
Wood/Hybrid: G20 3W, Raylor 19*, 22*
Irons: R9 5I - SW, TM CGB LW

Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi-Mid

Favorites: Old Ranch (Seal Beach), Ike/Babe (Industry Hills), Skylinks (Long Beach), Desert Willow (Palm Desert)

Buckeye....kind of an obnoxious ball mark don't you think.  Not very funny but to each his own.

I don't usually mark my ball because I play a Top Flit Gamer V2 most of the time and I rarely see them on the course.  Most wouldn't be caught dead using a Top Flite ball while those that do will usually go with one of the XL models. If I do mark, it's usually a simple dot near the T on Top Flite. Looks like I do half of what Triston does for marking.

I take the attitude that I really don't own the ball.  I'm just borrowing it until I donate it to the golfing community in hopes that someone else will get more use out of it than I did, so I keep the marks modest.

Driver:  Callaway Diablo Octane iMix 11.5*
Fairway: Cobra Baffler Rail F 3W & 7W

LOL...yea....that definitely happens.   I turn the ink away on the tee, but 2nd shots definitely get ink.  At worst....you can easily see where club-met-ball!!!   It wipes away with a wet towel....the sharpie doesn't stain the clubface.

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
