Hi... I posted a few weeks ago with my swing and my problem of shanking the ball.  After seeing an instructor we noticed a few things that I changed.  I was getting disconnected and swinging out instead of in/in.  This was exposing the hosel and it was making me hit some wicked shanks.  After hitting a bunch of balls and changing some things, I noticed that I am hitting the ball just left of the sweet spot towards the hosel. I had impact tape on the club so I knew that is where it his hitting the face.  Granted the balls were my normal iron distance with a slight draw, the impact was a little too close to the hosel for my comfort.  Could my clubs not be fitted correctly?  Right now they are 1 degree flat.  Could that be causing the ball to hit close to the heel?  My guess it is still my swing, but i thought there might be an issue of a poorly fitted club.

I think you may still be working on the swing correction.  It will take time.  At some point if you continue to work on it, you'll probably notice a few toe shots.  Then another correction will have to be made.  I guess that's golf.

I went through a phase of hitting the heel/hosel years ago.  I discovered that I was standing too far away from the ball (in a misguided attempt to manufacture and inside-out swing path), and ended up over-compensating and reaching for the ball, causing heel/hosel contact.

I corrected it by correcting my distance to the ball AND intentionally trying to hit the toe of the club for a while.  At first, to my surprise, what I expected to be a toe shot and some club twisting in my hand was still slightly inside center face.  But, in a short time, I was able to re-ingrain a proper stance and swing path and cured the problem.

    • Shot 100 yesterday.  I can tolerate that for now as it's just my second round after an extended layoff. Overall, I feel like I hit a handful of good shots and struggled from some inconsistency and a few bad decisions. It also didn't help that it was windy all day (about 20mph).
    • My "pairing up" story.  One evening I was out as a single.  On the 2nd hole a guy drove into me.  The green hadn't cleared in front of me so I had to wait.  When the a**hole walked up I let him have it!  He was larger than me and muscular and possibly could have pummeled me, but I was pissed.  So now the two of us are waiting for the green to clear.  Told him he could join me if he wanted to, but I wouldn't let him play through.  So he joined up.  He apologized without being prompted.  Turns out he worked in the same building as I did.  Ended up actually being an inattentive nice guy.  And we became friends.  And played again.  The best revenge was whipping his butt every time we played.
    • I am sort of easy on this, everything changes with the times. The only things I dislike are wearing a hat backwards and baggy pants. Also not a fan of collarless shirts.
    • I don't mind being paired up; I have met some real nice people this way. Since I end up wanting to golf and most of my friends don't play, I would just call the course and say "hi, I am just a single golfer, can I play today?", and they would just say to come out here and we'll get you out. So not usually a problem. In my way of thinking, if I don't book a foursome, I am at the mercy of the course anyway as to where and when they want to put me and that's perfectly ok, I accept that. The main thing is, I get to play!!!
    • You should get it pretty quickly. I ordered mine on 2/15 and it was delivered 2/20. They're based out of AZ, and I'm in SoCal, so the shipping was pretty quick to get to me. You may experience an extra couple of days depending on where you live. Also, if you're looking for a different shaft for it, you could always look at getting something from The Golf Works. They have pretty much any shaft you'd want as well as the PXG adapter. I believe they can install the adapter for you as well for a small fee.
