I could not imagine how hectic your life gets after winning a major!  I guess that's a good thing but a mental and family strain as well.  I can see how easy it would be to get caught up in the fame and fortune. But it sounds like Bubba gave some nice advice to Simpson in how to deal with it in The Tour Report ...."learn how to say no."

Quote:

Simpson was seeking some council on how to handle the crush of attention that had followed.

“I said, you’re going to have more fans. You’re going to have more people wanting you to sign, and your agent’s going to have more things for you to do,” Watson said Wednesday. “You’re just going to have to be able to say no. You’re the boss. Your agent works for you. You just gotta be able to say no and do what’s right for you and your family, not what’s right for other people.

“I tried to give him my little advice because he asked me, but who knows if he’ll listen.”

So this means Webb won't play again for over a month? Oh and his wife is having a baby too, just like Bubba!

Webb seems even more streaky than Bubba - I think he should play until his mojo wears off.

Bubba might be handling things off the course well, but he has only made 1 cut (t18) since winning in Augusta...

My dad mentioned to me that Simpson might skip the British Open because of his wife`s pregnancy (~34 weeks??)...not sure if this is accurate, but I can understand not wanting to be abroad around the due date.

You just won a million +++ bucks... I'd go have some fun too.

s far as Bubba taking time away, if it weren't an adoption process with some odd rules he probably would have shown up to something much sooner.

Bubba, yes, because in the two months he's been a major winner, he's an expert. Oy. Better to get advice from someone like Graeme McDowell. He had a down year in 2011, lost focus, etc. and has been having a good upturn since late 2011 and into 2012. In other words, ask someone who has more than two months of experience.

Well, the Watsons are trying to adopt. I believe she is unable to have have kids.

If Webb wants to win again he should do the complete opposite of whatever Bubba told him.  Bubba handled the fame and interviews well but his golf since the Masters has been pretty weak.  I know it's partially because he adopted a child and the process hasn't been finalized but he's still not the guy that should be giving advice.

Bubba is the guy who doesn't want to ask Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer for advice because, as he says, he is responsible for the shots he hits and not them.

Besides ???, now he is giving advice and expects someone to listen?

I don' t know how many golfers have had their head messed up by that first major victory in the years I have been following tournament golf. It's a lot. You do want to cash in on the win, but not at the expense of leaving behind what got you there in he first place.

That just goes to show you what an egomaniac Bubba has turned into.  If I were Webb Simpson in that moment Id be like, "Ok, Bubba because youve handled your fame soooooo well since you won The Masters."

In Bubba's defense, he was asked for the advice.

I seriously doubt Webb Simpson's experience will be anything like Bubba's.  There is a rather large disparity in charisma/popularity/fame factor between the 2.
