Two thousand years ago people didn't have access to the knowledge we now have, yet many choose to remain ignorant and illogical. Pretty scary.

Also - just curious - why should we worry that nothing happens when we die? The ultimate conceit is the notion that we go on living. And that is despite any evidence in human history to suggest otherwise. One wonders.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Believing in something happens after death gives the old and sick comfort.  I don't see anything wrong with that.

Do I have to answer this? I was of course assuming that the research would be decent, peer-reviewed, published research where the authors declare their competing interests. Proper scientific research.

Interestingly, unlike anything else in the world, religions are typically the only things I can think of (well, OK, maybe the health food lobby are cut from the same cloth) which are required to present no testable evidence. Any other walk of life trying to pass something off using the same approach would be laughed at.

The 'comfort' thing is just about reasonable I suppose. However, when they (and I) die, nothing happens except we'll either rot or we'll contribute to global warming.

I am not sure why you bothered. You told us(me) to @#@# off and said you are done. You are as fickle as religion. Why are you in the penalty box?

Conversations like this always crack me up. I had a similar discussion with a guy in college who claimed that he was a born again christian, while he was drunk of his ass and trying to get into the pants of everything wearing a skirt in the bar. He informed me that as long as I accept the fact that Jesus died for my sins, I'm in. So I guess I can do whatever I want till I'm on my death bed, then just accept it. Seriously though. I'm married to a pagan, and am pretty much an atheist myself. I've yet to see either a pagan or an atheist show up at my door pushing their beliefs on me. Can't say the same for most others. People who are super religious are kind of like vegans...you don't have to ask them what they are...they'll tell you :-P

And they get very angry when you quiz them about their beliefs beyond the point where you'd feel guilty about quizzing a 5 year old about Santa or the Easter Bunny.

Ourfriends like Domenic need to spend a few minutes watching some Youtube videos of the late Christopher Hitchens.

Religion has definitely been used to keep order.  To me the main purpose/benefit of religion is hope.

And just so you know, you guys are just as wrong as Domenic is right now.

I didn't think I was blasting, merely pointing out inconsistencies in religion. Much like being the devils advocate...... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
