I said WWTC before it. As in saying "What would Tom Cruise Do?" He's known to be the hero in movies, that's what he would do. It was jest, gosh.

WOAH!!!! I leave for 48 hrs. and THIS is what I find. I mean literally like my cuz 14 birthday party. I typed b4 i left. I mean I'll get verbally raped for this quote, BUT I do love the feeling so here I go.

Um, really? Here's a measure of which you judged unto ValleyGolfer:

I love the hypocrisy of religion. They tell you to toe a moral line while they go and do the exact same things for which they criticize, and then they side step any objection with the old "I'm not perfect, just forgiven" bullshit.

Oh and, how the heck are we supposed to know what WWTCD means???

You haven't even asked me what my beliefs are because you have "prejudged" me. Which is what religions teach quite often.

And to make reference that changing my avatar is evidence of anything substantial is completely ignorant and pathetic.

Domenic you have been brainwashed. You are comfortably numb and happy with it. I used to follow Christianity but just couldn't buy into all of it without ignoring ration. I happy you are happy with your religion and that is fine with me but God does not have a plan for you.

I will leave you with one question. If YOU are killed by someone, does the person that murdered you go to hell and why?

This is a post from my not as smart as it thinks it is phone.

OK. Now we're talking. Changin avatar I guess I forgot to put a smiley after, I was kidding. I am not comfortablynumb. Wish I was. I often think about my beliefs.I'm actually having difficulty right now with it. But I trust God to help me thru it. So WHAT ARE YOUR BELIEFS????? BTW about the comfortably numb, that's a great song, j sayin'. And if someone murders me I have no idea if they go to hell. Do they repent, IDK!!!!! We believe in salvation. It's possible for them to get into Heaven I'll say that.

So lets say they do not "repent". You are dead. However you are not because you are in heaven so you were never really actually hurt so no one really was hurt because you live on, no? What I am saying is if you believe in "God" and believe this outcome, no one can be truly hurt spiritually. So technically only damage to physical being.

My beliefs, in a nutshell: I believe in a higher power or universal being. I believe we are all part of that higher power. Our time here is to experience imperfection. I believe we are experiencing what we want to in the physical realm and that does not mean we have to like what others are experiencing or doing to us. I also believe that each choice we make takes us in another direction and we have freewill to make those choices. There is no plan. There is only bad if you perceive it bad. You are happy if you choose to be. Being mean or violent goes against fellow men and makes life hard. I could go on. Basically let people experience there own way and help people the best you can. There is no going to heaven because you are already there. A movie that is similar to this "What dreams may come". Wacky I know but it holds more logic than any religion. The only difference between my beliefs and an atheist is that they fight there is no proof of God. My thoughts are that if "God" did provide proof, it would screw up our journey. Which is why I say science will never prove God's existence.

A pertinent quote maybe:

Quote:
In dark ages people are best guided by religion, as in a pitch-black night a blind man is the best guide; he knows the roads and paths better than a man who can see. When daylight comes, however, it is foolish to use blind old men as guides. - Heinrich Heine

What I take from it is:

During the dark ages things were hopeless.  There wasn't much anyone could do but offer hope or false hope.  In those times the church was able to lead the way.  When things got better, not so much.  I don't see it as particularly anti-religion.  More of a, you need different things at different times.

oh ok. People are quick to blame God when their mom dies, but forget him completely when they've won the lottery and landed a  new job in  suburban area. Not everyone does this of course, but some. I myself am guilty of this. Working on it.

No it's the opposite, see below ...

I don't remember the guys name, and I'm sure several have repeated the same type of jokes, but I'll never forget a stand up comedian I saw on TV back in the 90's comment about how every athlete always praises god when he wins, but its never the other way around.  He said "Just once I'd like to hear a guy in a post game interview say 'everything was going great, until Jesus made me fumble!'"

It's anti. In the dark ages, humanity didn't know anything - effectively blind and relied on those self-appointed mouth pieces of organised religions. Now we can see (i.e. science is giving us explanations for much that was "explained" by religion) we don't need the shaman/priests etc. The God of the Old Testament is truly becoming the "God of the gaps" i.e. as science explains more and more (Higgs boson anyone?) the need for a God to explain something is being shunted into smaller and smaller spaces.

God doesn't get anyone jobs or help you win the lottery. If God did any of this, my ex wife would have been long dead by now.

There will always be mysteries in the universe that science cannot fully explain.  There is always a, "what happened before that".  If the universe is almost 14 billion years old, what happened before that?

If life is a test, why would God help you cheat on his own test?

He only goes so far. For example, a baseball thanking the Lord on national tv becasue he won the world series could just be an act. It doesn't need to be done. Like when Jesus says about fasting in private not going into the streets and proclaiming it. *coughs* Tim Tebow. God doesn't help us win a baseball game. But you thabnk him for letting you get there,

"God" doesn't go so far, you do. Maybe your faith gives you strength to persevere or accomplish certain goals. You already stated you are having a tough time with your religion, maybe you should check into other possibilities.
