I am spoiled on the Pro V1X!! If money is tight or my swing is all messed up, I will sometimes use the NXT Tour.

I currently play Pro V1's and B330's. I purchase them used, and I have decided to buy a few sleeves of Callaway Hot Bite's and some other mid-ranged balls.

I'm still hacking back into getting some semblance of consistency after a prolonged layoff.

I did get into a grove yesterday throughout the entire round with my irons and wedges. Everything simply fell into place. My score, 92, was not indicative of this as my woods and putter were very poorly played.

That being said, I tried a sleeve of NXT Tour balls and was highly impressed. It was very windy but my iron/wedge yardages were solid and the ball held up in wind. Very good action and green holding ability. I hit a few 3,4 and 5 irons into well bunkered small greens without fear. The ball hit and checked beautifully.

Distance on the ball was about 3 yards more than my norm for each club.

Chips and greenside soft wedges worked out very well.

I'll definetly buy some more of these balls. There was a marked improvement over my "normal" balls (Precept Laddies and Maxfli Noodles).

i can't really pin out the very difference but i play both the Black Ones and the HX tours and I play the Hx's better. It feels softer to me.

Beginner - high handicap opinion.
I use a non insert putter and have tried the following balls:

Nike SFT2 - driver & irons no problem. It felt to hard off the wedge & putter after trying some of the balls below.

Top Flight D2 feel - a little softer off the putter but still to hard.

Titleist DT So/Lo - Less spin off driver (I tend to slice sometimes) and it felt nice off the wedge and softer off the putter then the ones above.

Titleist NXT Tour - no big slice from the driver & it felt softer off wedge shots and putter then the DT SoLo.

Bridgstone E6+ - Feels close to the NXT tour but still working with it.

With that said I decided to give Lost Golf balls dot com a try. I placed an order for the following balls in AAAA quality.

12 - Prov1
24 - DT SoLo
24 - Wilson 50

I will post on the condition of the balls when they arrive.

Kelly

Pro V1x ... but my ball of choice as far as price/performance goes is the Top Flite TL Tour, just like the Pro V1x for the most part.

just switched from the tour ix to the TP Red. We'll see how it reacts. If it doesn't work, i'm most def. going to wait for the Tour i and make that my ball until Titleist comes up with their new 4 or dare i say, 5 piece model, next year.

I voted for the Top-Flite D2 because I picked up a case of them and they're all I've really played with so far; But I got a Nike One Black from a friend, and that ball seems to really do what I want it to - when I lose all my D2s in the woods I'll definitely pick up some more Nike One Blacks.

Pro v1x - try something different - love it for a round and then the next time its just not "right" so back to the v1x I go. The only one that lasted more than a few rounds was the B330. Interesting that they won the law suit against Titleist for the patent infringement - must be something in the similarities?.....

I have been using the new TaylorMade Burner ball. I have liked it very much. I would like to try a sleeve of the Bridgestone E6+ ball to see how it compares with the TaylorMade. I was given a box of the Titleist NXT Extremes. In a head to head comparison, I prefered the TaylorMade Burner balls because they were as long or longer off the tee, seemed a bit softer around the green and cost less than the NXTs.

I got a dozen Taylor Made TP Reds as a Christmas gift and was using them for my first coule rounds. It's a nice ball and relatively long. I was struggling towards the end of my second round so I switched to the Juice ball. Everyone knows it's the arrow, not the indian. I played reasonably well the rest of the round. I lost my last Juice ball in the middle of my 3rd round so I grabbed a ProV1 and was immediately reminded about why I chose that ball in this poll. I hit it solid and the feel was great.

I'm looking to practice a LOT on my shortgame this season and was wondering what ball I should start with, the ball that is easiest to control and has the most FEEL on the green.

In your experience which ball has the best overall short game control (Spin and feel) and best feel for putting on the green?

    • Day 55: 4/18/2024 Got to the range again today. Planned to do my priority pieces and then hit targets with irons. But after my priority pieces I hit a few drives and tugged them all hard left. .... Uh... oh boy.  So, I spent about a half hour trying to hit targets at the range with my driver.
    • Day 126 (18 Apr 24) - Trail arm only drill with the LW…focused on letting the club drop, engaging the bounce and letting the club pop the ball up….wrapped up by repeating drill with both hands on the club…
    • OPPs, I guess I have been doing the drill incorrectly, just ignore this.  But as they say, mistakes are learning opportunities. Let’s hope I can learn from mine.
    • Some thoughts after the 1st 9 holes of the year. The driver was pretty good, nothing crazy. My miss seems to be just a push. The start line is a bit too far right for my taste, but they are drawing back at least. Hitting middle-ish of the face to slightly toe. Part of the right miss is a bit of open face and off the toe slightly.  Irons, some really good strikes, others were not so good. I am feeling a few things, when I am being mindful of the swing I made.  1) Got to get the pause down again, and keep things shorter (as usual). One of the best iron shots was when I tried to mimic Rahm's swing length, lol. I caught a flier and hit an 8-iron like 190 yards into an area of no return for that golf ball. The swing felt great 😉  2) I got to stay taller in transition, feel like I gain tons of space between my hands and my chest. The bad swing is the old swing, bad right elbow, tilt to lower the club. This was too much shallowing, and hitting the ball fat. I just think of it this way, you are bent over, and you can reach the ball at address. So, you can reach the ball at impact by getting your hands down.  3) The final thing is the timing. It might take some time to get some flow into the swing. Timing up hands down and the turn is a bit off. Focusing on the hands down kind of stalls everything for me, at least it feels like my hips do not turn. I end up hitting a decent strike, just feels meh athletically, lol.  Short game was Ok, which means pretty good for not practicing it. Not short, but not round destroying.  Putting, doing much better now that I quickened up my routine. Line up, looking at my target. Glance down at the ball to get into my stance. Glance up at my target spot again, then hit the ball with in like 1-2 seconds after looking back down at the ball. Trying not to get to static over the ball while putting.
    • Oh I'm dumb, I just noticed I did the MyStrategy from the wrong tee box. I don't think it changes anything, though. I'll play it as a three shot hole and I still don't really want to miss right (guy I played with on Sunday never found his ball he hit just over the trees right). I think the trees left are considered part of the environmentally sensitive area because it's part of the drainage area for the course. I actually like this hole a lot. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time. I probably overestimated the wind speed. We had sustained winds of like 12-15mph with gusts up to 25mph. The wind is actually forecast to be WNW on Saturday instead of WSW like was when I played on Sunday so if I play this hole again the wind will be pushing towards that bunker. Similar speeds, though. Wind is always a factor at this course because there's really nothing blocking it. I'm definitely going to have to pay attention to it, especially with the wind. I hit a handful of short iron approaches a lot farther than I thought I would on Sunday. As of right now the only thing I know for sure is I'm starting on Ridge. I don't know if the back 9 will be played on Meadow or Lake.
