You will never catch the guy in front of you, but this way, if you tell the pro shop right away, they can post a note or let him know should he inquire when he finishes and you are still on 16 or whatever.

Why do you say that you will never catch the players ahead of you?  In most cases on a busy course, the problem is trying not to stack up against them.  It's a rare round that I'm not waiting at some point just a short wedge from the group putting out in front of me, certainly not a problem to walk up close enough to get their attention.

I always keep them. I throw the good ones in my practice buckets at home, and save the cheaper ones for when I play with my lil bro, Caleb, as he tends to lose a lot off the tee (though he is getting much better)

If it belonged to a player who has distinct markings, I return it to them, otherwise I keep the gamers and give the rocks away or put them in the shag bag.

I never touch anything I find on the course.If it doesn't belong to me, I have no business putting my hands on it. I can't control what the people behind me do, but I can do what I would hope people would do for me, and that is leave my club where I left it so I can come back and find it instead of having to try and chase it down in someone's cart or hope it arrives in the clubhouse. They also make really cool labels that you can wrap around your clubs with your contact info on them. As the value of my clubs continues to rise each year with upgrades, I'm considering using these.

So, what good are the labels if everyone does as you do and leave the club on the ground. Not sure the squirrels use UPS. I pick it up and drop it at the clubhouse if someone hasn't come looking for it.

I left my putter on a green the last time I played. And even worse, I only realized when I got to the next green and noticed my putter was missing. Then I remembered for some reason I took it out and left it on the last green.
I drove back as fast as I could and fortunately it was still there, even better once I got back to the green I was playing my ball was still there. It was a very slow day on the course, I only ran into another group once and they just played through.

I think the right thing is to turn it in, but in this case I'm glad no one picked it up and made me go on a wild chase for it.

More often than not courses mention what their lost club policy is where the long list of course regs is in the clubhouse. At my home course the wedges are lined up against the wall behind the counter next to the lost putter covers. Can't say I've ever found any clubs other than a wedge. Though last night I found some fancy poker chip ball marker. I grabbed it and asked the guys ahead and turns out it was part of some fancy high end putter cover.

I found a pink ball on the course yesterday. Thought my daughter would be happy when I put it in her bag. She wasn't and said I should have turned it into the lost and found at the clubhouse. I like her.

I always take it with me, and try to get the attention of the group in front of me to see if it's theirs.  If not, I'll leave it at the clubhouse.  I'm sure at some point, maybe when they are cleaning their stuff at home, they will realize they are missing one and call the clubhouse to see if anyone returned it.

Assuming I haven't already realized that it am missing it and gone back for it myself, the course employee will snag it and give my cell a call.

Good luck with that. Unless it was left in the middle of the green or on the cart path our marshals would never see it at dusk.

Agreed.  They don't run a search and recovery mission, they cover the course to make sure that all players are off.

How does one leave a putter and ball behind on a green?   LOL...I'm trying to picture it.

1. player chips ball onto the green.

2. player walks onto green and lays putter down with ball still resting on the putting surface.

3. player drives to the next tee forgetting to finish the hole.

I believe that he meant he hit onto current green, then realized putter was missing and drove back and got it, then was happy that ball had not been picked up by any group 'playing through.'

When I bought my X-20 irons I called callaway to register them and they sent me these as a gift. Ive had them on my cluds for two years and they are holding up nicely.
