Well, an injury to my meniscus in January, I have finally been able to run with no pain.  I had finished the C25k last year, but I started the program again last week because of my injury and the way it gradually adds in difficulty.  The slow pace was a good option for my knee.

I have always lifted weights throughout my life and at some point in January, I obviously did something that injured my meniscus.  I am very stubborn and don't like doctors, so I just bought some knee sleeves, took some ibuprofen, and continued my workouts.

Well, after months of whining and complaining, my wife convinced me to go to the doctor.  I was very reluctant to make an appointment...and then it hit me!  An old high school friend is now a PT. So I called him up and asked his opinion.  He told me not to see a doctor because they would immediately send me for an MRI and it would cost a lot. Of course, that immediately got him on my side considering my opinion of many doctors.  He asked me to give him a few weeks and he could potentially get me to the same spot without all the expense. So I did.

Long story short, the guy knows what he is doing!  After two test exercises, he immediately diagnosed it and got started on rehab.  A few weeks later, and I am running with no pain.  I could get into all of the other things he did that just amazed me about his knowledge and the human body, but that's a longer story.

So with that being said, I am very excited to be running again, and also a little annoyed that I didn't seek his help sooner.  Hindsight is 20/20 though.

I am going to get myself back into 5k shape (shouldn't be a cardio issue, just muscle strength) and pick up where I left off.

Not much going on in this group. I plan on getting back into running starting this week.  My wife has signed us up for a color run so I guess that will be a good starting point.

I haven't run in awhile. I should start again, but the age-old excuse of "finding the time" is sometimes a very real thing. I can't give up time spent sleeping. :)

I can understand that!

By that I meant that I get about six hours as it is, not that I really really like to sleep or something.
