With the recent announcement of Michael Phelps (yawn) being the next pupil for Hank Haney to screw up (kidding!), it got me thinking - who would you like to see on the show?

THP got off to a good start, imo, with Charles Barkley, but then Rush Limbaugh & Ray Romano kinda took the bloom off the rose for me. The show needs some kind of lovable nutjob with some attitude.

Up until his recent arrest, I was thinking Chad Ochocinco. Maybe Terrelle Owens?

Who would you like to see?

The gist of the show has always been him taking a non-golfer or really crappy golfer and trying to turn him/her into a decent one, huh?  I think I'd find it more interesting if he took an already decent golfer and attempted to make him/her into a really good one.

Like, say, Michael Jordan.  Tony Romo, etc.

If his health was still up there, I think Bill Clinton would be fun to watch too.

Good question Zip, here's a few that might be interesting to watch;

  • Donald and Ivanka Trump
  • Brian Skatell from Big Break (the guy that pure's his shots)
  • Bill Murray
  • Dana White (UFC President)

Kevin James would make for a hilarious student.....although Ray didn't do a lot for me so maybe that wouldn't be so great.

They should do a season where they pick 6 different celebrities and dedicate one episode to each of them.  They could go and spend 3 days with Hank in kind of a "golf boot camp" and that could be condensed into an episode.  Then the 7th episode could be a competition and the 8th a wrap-up (or whatever).  They could call it The Haney Project - Boot Camp.

Lisa Lampanelli would make a hilarious episode.  Tony Romo would be good.  William Shatner, Betty White, Justin Timberlake, Mark Wahlberg would all make good episodes.

It would be interesting for us golf nerds if he took a Web.Com player or elite amatuer or something like that .. but that seems almost as unlikely as Tiger doing a season.

    • I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years My current handicap index or average score is: 4.5 My typical ball flight is: big fade / slice The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: slice   Hey, I have a "my swing" threat on tst right after I started but it's now too old to update so I created a new one. Really interested in what you guys think. I'm working alot on my swing therefore I'm happy for every single tip especially if it straightens my ball flight. Thanks! Videos:
    • How about The Reserve at Spanos Park?  Just north of Stockton right on I-5, that might work for timing?  In Sacramento, I also see Bing Maloney and Teal Bend both close to I-5. I wouldn't recommend making a detour towards Fresno - really no reason to lengthen a trip to get through there unless you planned on going to Yosemite or Kings Canyon / Sequoia as well.
    • What aspect of putting are you failing at?  For example, I can consistently do the ruler drill to over 80% accuracy (I often get 20+ to go straight out of 25).  Yet I'm a terrible putter, so lately I've been doing a "coin drill" at 4' and 6' (sometimes one or the other, sometimes one then the other).  I put 12 coins in a circle, approx equally spaced, around a hole, and try to make a putt from each coin.  I pick up the coin when I make one from there, and count total putts.  This gives a little bit for line and reading short putts.  I really should institute a penalty for myself when I leave one short from that distance. ESC also had a great drill from 12' or so:  pick a hole 12' or so from you (doesn't have to be exact), putt one ball to it.  Make it, give yourself two points.  Two-putt, and the first went past the hole?  No change.  Two-putt, first didn't get to the hole?  Lose a point.  Three-putt (or worse), lose 3.  See if you can get to 10 points. I guess I'm asking:  is it read, speed, or bead that you're struggling with?
    • Day 60.  Today was a good day for Shindig's game.   I was able to get to a course and spend some time on the putting green, including doing a 6' coin drill, completing it in 26 putts.   That's better than my target goal of keeping that under 30.  Of course, fewer is always better.  I also, later in the day, hit 30 chips with my 56 and 30 with my gap (U) iron, quarter shots all, indoors, real balls, off a mat, into a net, and managed a dozen slow, careful full 6-iron shots too.   If it seems that I'm prioritizing short game lately, you're right.  I have two tournaments in the next seven days, so I'm trying to do what I can in the short term to bring my score down by focusing on these.  Plus, let's face it, my short game is abominable anyway, so this isn't a bad thing long term either (although I do subscribe to 2/3 on long game, in general, of course).
    • Day 492: Something has not been feeling in sync lately, so decided to not do any "full" full swings today. Did takeaway drills in the mirror for 15 minutes, observing DTL and FO views to make sure I am getting to an okay spot at shaft parallel. Then did the same drill outside, and stopped at shaft parallel, and then when a bit further and kind of bunted the ball into the net. Did this for about 30 minutes with a PW, 7-iron, and hybrid.
