"Dislike" might be a strong word but, if any of these 3 guys are in a playoff, I'm rooting for the other guy:

1.  Kevin Na

2.  Jim Furyk

3.  Bubba Watson

3 of my favorites:

1.  Tiger

2.  Rory

3.  Jordan Spieth (although if he doesn't turn it around he may slip off my radar).

For the record, I dig Patrick Reed.  I don't care if he's obnoxious or cocky or fat or whatever.  I would like to see stronger play from him, for sure, though.  He could easily be my #3 favorite if he was playing better.  And like I said before .. I'm not sure "favorite" or "least favorite" or "like" or "dislike" really apply here.   I don't really "dislike" any golfers . . but the 3 I listed I just find annoying to watch.  Especially Kevin Na.  I can't stand watching his slow-play and fidgety behavior.  My issue with Bubba is that he has too much talent not to play better.  He wins once or twice a season just because he's better than the field but he is not much of a competitor, in my opinon . .and super whiney at times, too.   Watching Furyk is like watching paint dry . .plus my Aunt hates him because she said she's met him in person and he was an ass.  I don't know .. she's getting on in years . .I'm not positive she's ever really met him.

I Dig Patrick Reed as well. The more people hate on him the more I root for him.

I don't have time for hate.

For women, Lewis, IB Park, Sei Young Kim.  All LPGA players are beautiful.

I always stay up for Tiger. Patrick Reed, also high on the radar. A 3rd is difficult (because I just like to watch), but Rory comes to mind.

I do not dislike players, it is like more a question of do I stay up late to see the finish or not if some of those players are in contention. Paddy Harrington is a friendly person, but on TV he looks a kind of mad/angry all the time. I am not in the Spiethmania. So overhyped. Let's get real. Same with Fowler.

Most weeks, to be honest, my favourites heavily shift.  I'm not a big Jim Furyk fan, but I was rooting for him at the Heritage because it had been so long since his last win and because he'd had so many close calls.  If he gets close in another major, I'll likely be pulling for him even if I might prefer his competition in a vacuum.  At the 2012 US Open, for instance, I was hoping for Furyk over Simpson or Thompson (both kinda nobodies) and even one of my favourites in McDowell since Furyk "needed it more" and had a smaller window for future major chances than Graeme did or does.  Likewise, I'm not a big Sergio fan, but he gets close again in a major, I'll be rooting for the poor guy to win just to get out of his misery.

  • 4 weeks later...

Why would anyone dislike Tiger?

Why would anyone like Tiger? I mean that quite seriously. In my book, he's not a likable guy at all...just my opinion.

It's tough to narrow it down to 3 of each, but here goes:

Favorite Players...Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth

Least favorites....Tiger Woods, John Daly, Pat Perez

    • Thanks for the feedback, @Bucki1968. May I ask what you didn’t like at Atlantic Dunes? I’ve also read that a lot of people liked it better that Harbour Town; more specifically that HT in the off-season isn’t kept at championship condition and isn’t worth the extra money. I’d probably bite the bullet and play HT if this was the only trip to Hilton Head I was planning on doing in my life but I have this timeshare access for 37 more years 😃
    • For me it would have to be on a hole “designed and built” as a par 3, even on par three courses with holes less than 100yds.  Don’t see where a Mulligan really qualifies as a legit hole-in-one, likewise Simulators offer perfect conditions, so real weather is not in play.  Personally I have come close a couple of times of late - the ball finishing within a couple feet of the hole.
    • Here we go. I should mention that I work with Erik on Evolvr so I get routine coaching and swing feedback there. I have no plans to stop that in 2023 so "get help from Erik" is an ongoing element of seeking feedback for each of these items. Track missed shots with narrative / details (intention vs outcome) Review these monthly and feed into my other drill and improvement work. Arccos gives me good dispersion data, but cannot incorporate what I was intending to do. Biggest gains here I expect will be off the tee. For example, aiming for right edge of fairway but I pull it left towards OB but still land in the left side of fairway. Looks good on paper but is far from what I intended. Realistically I don’t expect to track every shot this way, but enough each round to produce enough evidence on trends to monitor. Play in at least three individual stroke play tournaments in 2023 At least one of these being a Rochester District Golf Association tournament Stoke medal play will be a true benchmark of improvement over time. I view 2023 as a baseline setting year so have no specific outcome goals here other than participation. Improve driver speed (from TheStack baseline start speed of 99) Goal is 105 by August 1 2023 I'm turning 55 in December so perhaps 105 is aggressive and perhaps "maintain current speed" would be more realistic, but I'm gonna try. I’m not convinced that Stack gives enough specific guidance on how to improve (other than repeated testing and workout sessions), but I have access to Top Speed Golf which should help with technique training. Improve strokes gained putting, with a focus on 0–10 foot putts Current overall –1.7 putting, –1.8 on 0–10 foot Routine practice (9–11 foot challenge, Mickelson circle putting) at least twice per week on this range, with speed control work mixed in (ladder drill primarily). Consider taking either a refresher AimPoint class, or the AimPoint level II Goal is –1.4 putting (past 10 rounds vs scratch) measured around December 2023. Stretch goal is –1.0.
    • I'm only "counting" the first one and the temporary par-3 tee box.  Definitely not "counting" the Mulligan. First of all, I'm anti-mulligan to begin with.  Definitely not "counting" the simulator par-3 hole in one.  I'm open to counting the short par-3's on a regular course. But I've actually not seen any that short as far as I can remember. So I'm not sure how often that comes up. Unless you are playing the forward tees, in that case I say count it.  Par-3 course holes-in-one are great and exciting, but don't really "count" in my estimation. Although I prefer counting these to either the Mulligan or the simulator holes-in-one.
