I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive ($100-$175) rangefinder. My dad has an awesome Leupold GX but it runs around $300 and I dont need to spend that much. Does anyone know of a good finder in this price range? Thanks.

For around $150, the Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport is OK At around $200, you can get a decent golf rangefinder: take a look at the Bushnell Medalist and the Nikon Prostaff 550

Put away a dollar a day for 299 days and get something decent that you will use. Seriously, spending that much for the Bushnell V2 was the best golf investment I have ever made, better than any other piece of equipment.

My wife got me a Bushnell Tour V2 and it is wonderful...I'm learning how far I actually hit each club. I think she got it from golfsmith with 20% off and free shipping... I would say its worth it to get a good one... and definitely seems to be helping me get pin high a lot more often.

Just got the V2 as well. $259 at Dicks. Worth spending the extra 100 clams. It's almost winter as for it for Xmas

I purchased the Tour V2 with the Patriot Pack as well.....those tees are in my bag somewhere! Best $$ i've spent on equipment in quite a while - well worth every penny (minus the 10%+ sales tax in chicago - couldn't stand to wait for an online order!!).....

I purchased the Bushnell Medalist and am pretty pleased with it. What I've found is that it's not fool proof. You need to shoot the target a couple times to make sure you're getting the flagstick and not the surrounding terrain.

That being said, I can't imagine playing without it now. As long as I make good contact with the ball, I'm pin high on 90+% of my approach shots.

+1 on the benefits of a rangefinder(even over a GPS as far as I'm concerned)  Does the Medalist have pinseeker like the V2 and above does?

The Medalist does have pinseeker. The primary differences between the Medalist and V2: V2 has 5X magnification with an adjustable diopter and uses a special CR-2 camera battery. Medalist has 4X magnification, is bigger, and uses a regular 9V battery. The Medalist is about $60 cheaper.

I just got the new Callaway (Nikon) Razr rangefinder and it is great.  Outside your stated price range but I think it's worth it.  Super fast.  I've used GPS apps on my phone, and I like this better.  Faster, simple, no nonsense.  It has their own version of "pinseeker" that works well.

    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
