Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone had their eye on a 2013 carry/stand bag with a 14-way divider. If so, could you suggest one for me, a mostly walker, sometimes cart-er? I had a Callaway Diablo Edge stand bag but got a very generous offer from a fellow Sand Trapper so I'm now in the market for a new bag.

I tried out the Nike Performance Carry 2012 but the colors clashed with my clubs, and the rumors are true: the base is not very cart friendly.

I really liked the 2012 Grom XX from Ogio but I saw that the 2013 ones should be out soon with improved straps.

Price range is below $250. Thank you!

My Bag

        RBZ 3-Wood 15.5 R Flex

                   Diablo Edge R Flex Graphite 3H, 4H, 5H, 9-PW, AW, SW, LW

       White Ice Sabertooth 2 33"

Mizuno has come out with some Aerolite bags with some pretty interesting designs lately.  One of them has a pair of battling samurai and kanji on it that Im seriously considering getting.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Really? That would make a difference to me. It seems like Ogio already has the thick stands and good rubber pieces that make ground contact that I prefer (compared to the Nike Performance Carry) but it seems like it doesn't extend enough and would be unstable. What in particular are they changing with the stand?

I can't seem to find any photos of this. Do you happen to have any, Gaijin?

Yeah, a Titleist 14way.  It bothers me that I have a Tmade bag with no TaylorMade clubs.  As I will be upgrading my irons to Titleist as well next season.

Titleist 913D2 9.5 (UST VTS 65)

Titleist 913F 15 (Diamana S+)

Titleist 913H 19 (Diamana S+)

Titleist 714 AP2 (4-PW) (DG XP-95)

Titleist Vokey SM5 (52,56,58) (DG XP-95)

Ping Anser 2 Classic

The Manager at the Edwin Watts store locally told me he met with Ogio execs and was told they are going with a system more like Sun Mtn & Ping use.  I have a 2010 Ogio bag, and I really do not like the stand.  However a friend of mine just bought the 2013 Nimbus bag and it has a much improved system.

tgw has a smallish image of the samurai Aerolite bag [ MIZUNO AEROLITE [X] STAND BAG SAMURAI ].  But when you click to view the image or Check Stock it seems it is not yeat available.  Too bad, because the artwork is very detailed and needs a ZOOM feature

tinkering with a plethora of equipment and brands; I now feel like its all about mechanics and less equipment- stay tuned

I want a Cobra stand/cart bag - not a staff bag though because they're way too big and bulky for what I need to carry. Though I may go with a '13 Ogio. A buddy of mine bought the 2012 Assassin and it's gorgeous - hoping for a '13 remake.

I've been back and forth between an Ogio and SunMountain... I'm really digging the SunMountain Hybrid as most of my rounds are with a cart so I'm not as worried about the additional weight as long as I have the carry option.

I always have bag envy. I love to look at them in the store and want to take one home. Then I think about how many rounds I could play with that money and the fact that my bag works fine now and I end up keeping mine and playing more. There is only so much gear switching my wife will put up with and I think a bag upgrade is one too many.

Why do they call golf "golf"?  Because all the other four letter words were taken.

The 14way is a great bag and I love mine, but if you want to save a couple bucks get the sun mountain Four 5 it's essentially the same exact bag you're just not paying the premium for the Titleist name.

Yeah but I can get this bag at a discount through someone in the industry, also by next season most of clubs will be Titleist once the irons come in only the wedges won't match.

I'm always somewhat in the market for a new bag. My current Ogio is only a year old but the legs are a little wonky.

In my bag:

I want a Llama or Sherpa by MacKenzie from the Walking Golfer. Not a 14-way but I love the classic look and they are very light. No legs-very minimalist but classy. Just can't decide which I want, and bite the bullet on the $235.

At that price Peter Jacobsen should deliver it in person.

I you want fairly light weight, 14 way stand bag, the Sun Mountain Four5 is the way to go... I love mine and before I had this one I had a Titleist Premium 14way which is essentially the same bag. Sun Mountain also makes the hybrid bag, which is a 14 way stand bag but it is a bit heavier. You can think of it like this, the Hybrid is more of a cart bag with legs whereas the Four5 is a larger stand bag that fits well on a cart.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
    • Day 283: Putted on my mat for a while watching an NLU video. Worked on keeping my head still primarily, and then making sure my bead is okay.
    • I do not follow amateur or Korn Ferry tour but this story might get me to pay attention. At age 15 to be as accomplished as he is makes me think we may be seeing a future star.  A story of him breaking out may help reinvigorate golf viewership. Miles Russell has a hot start, cools off but finishes with a 68 in first Korn Ferry event Miles Russell, a 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach resident, made his Korn Ferry Tour debut on...
    • Day 8: Indoor backswing work, mostly rehearsals of takeaway. Hit some balls wtih 6-iron working on adding flow, but not too Much which I tend to do, swaying too far away from target.
    • Day 55: 4/18/2024 Got to the range again today. Planned to do my priority pieces and then hit targets with irons. But after my priority pieces I hit a few drives and tugged them all hard left. .... Uh... oh boy.  So, I spent about a half hour trying to hit targets at the range with my driver.
