That year Expos finished 35 games out. Padres 26 games out. There were about 23 fans in the park.

But when something spectacular is done, and the game is meaningful? You will never ever ever see the other team showing support, applause. Heck, have you ever seen another golfer ever ever do it??

Now you are just moving the goal posts.

As far as seeing other golfers do it ... ummm ... how about EVERY SINGLE TIME a guy gets a hole in one?  Do they not get high fives from all playing partners and caddies present?

I doubt it as he's probably got more class than that. Sounds like you might need it though.

Does this sort of talk pass as golf analysis among your buddies at the course? DL3 didn't "let him do" anything. He (DL3) made a decision based on the available information from players and other sources. That was his job. You on the other hand are making a foolish judgement based on inadequate information. You're such a tough guy .... on the internet. Dime a dozen. If you expressed your views to DL3 and PM to their faces they would probably laugh in your face, or pity you your ignorance, or both. What would the tough guy do then? U.S. RC golfers surely don't deserve "supporters" like you regardless of how they play on a given day.

Answer one question. WOULD THE EURO TEAM HAVE DONE THAT IN EUROPE. Their fans boo us, call Tiger athe "N" word,  throw things at us. If one of their players did what Phil did the Brits fans would SLAM him for the rest his life.

We need more fire and less Bi-partisan, that's why they call it home field advantage, which applies in all sports.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Is this still about baseball? That's specifically what you've quoted - a baseball comment.

Jeez.

Sorry, what in his comment proves Seve wasn't a jerk? He sure was when I was young(er). At least that's how I recall the Ryder Cups playing out pre-1991.

Would you like me to send you my daughters old books, "Books for Kids age 2"? Or maybe watch Golf Channel as they refer to it as home field advantage.

Or maybe you have a problem with common  sense as I stated "it's not done in Europe"

So to help you out here, No this not about baseball.

Here's an interesting comment by Jason Sobel (Golf Channel site).  He makes a good point - certainly they were all hitting it long and/or left on the 17th but that deepening pond on the right front would scare the heck out of me - not these guys with a 7i or something in their hands one would hope.  It depends on your state of confidence I suppose, which by that point was pretty low on the american side unfortunately.  Playing too conservatively at that point?

Of course if Furyk or Stricker had gone wet on the 17th then DL3 would have had to take responsibility - it cuts both ways.

What do people think?

Sobel :

"I don't have a problem with many of the decisions made by Davis Love III. If just one player had turned his L into a W on Sunday, the captain would be hailed as a conquering hero and we'd instead be second-guessing his European counterpart right now.

The truth is, I thought Love did a very good job from a tactical and managerial standpoint. The only major issue I had relates to advice.

One by one Sunday afternoon, players approached the 17th and 18th holes for either the first time or one of the first times all week. And one by one, they went long and/or left approaching each green.

In a regular PGA Tour event, competitors are limited to advice only from their own caddies. At the Ryder Cup, the captains are free to dole out warnings anytime they wish.

Love should have taken advantage of that. By the time such decisive matches as the ones involving Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker reached the final hole, he should have been walking down the fairway with them saying, "Everyone's gone long here all day. Keep in mind your adrenaline and take one club less." Or once they were in such a predicament, Love could have offered, "Yes, that putt from the back of the green is very quick, but it doesn't break nearly as much as you think."

There is a difference between individual tournaments and team competition. Love had an opportunity to take advantage of that difference, but didn't."

He absolutely did. Go watch the press conference....its right there!!

Mickelson told him...."do not play us"

Watch the video, before you respond and you will see Davis's emotions....pissed that he didn't go along with his gut, and allow Phil to convince him otherwise.

    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
