Alexis Thompson (the 12 year old) hasn't tee'd off yet, according to the leaderboard at lpga.com. So far Karrie Webb is the only golfer to post a worse score than Michelle Wie. Ouch indeed.

Maria Kostina put up a 10 on #17 and bogied #18 to finish at 89. Maybe that will help Michelle feel better.

I sure hope this is because of her wrist. At least it will eventually heal.

But if this is a mental thing, she may be done like David Duval.

She and Leadbetter both say her wrist is weak and needs strengthened again. Hitting golf shots (mostly on the range, but in competition too) will help it gain strength.

I also maintain that it would have been stupid for Michelle to NOT withdraw, but wish her camp had been more honest about the WD. Anyway, TV coverage was a bust today with the stupid weather delay. Instead of showing us action from earlier in the day, they showed last year's tournament. Lame.

I'm looking forward to coverage this weekend, hopefully the weather clears up and we can get the event back on schedule.

Not 100% of the time, but certainly for majors I really enjoy watching the ladies. They seem to have a lot more enthusiasm than the men's tour or something.

Let's hope for an action packed weekend. Nothing like a packed leaderboard of a major, men or women!

Not only were they showing last year's tournament, it was day 3 (not even day 4). I came home early from work and put on ESPN and was very confused for a few minutes.

I went down to the Tuesday practice round, and was amazed by the friendly nature of all the players except a few- Wie and Davies (who I thought was John Daly in drag). Every one except those 2 signed autographs and took pictures with anyone. I look Creamer, who was hitting the ball great, to contend all weekend after her round yeaterday.

See, I was far worse than that, I turned it on, said WTF? and promptly turned it back off.

I was pleased to see Julieta Granada in the hunt after the 1st day. Why do I like Granada?
1. Her caddy is often her mother.
2. Before her first win, she and her mother depended on bicycles for transportation.
3. Her father is a greenskeeper down in Paraguay. Shades of Arnold Palmer!
4. She's not Michelle Wie.

That's probably enough for me.

Greetings .....

You will never guess -- and may not even believe -- who just withdrew from the competition.

Then Again .....

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
