My only goal this year is to have a round without a double bogey or worse. Last year my goal was two pars on each nine. After I did that it was a birdie on each nine. Last week I broke 80 for the first time and my HC went to 9.5. But those are not my goals... I think those goals are too general. I think specific goals (which will improve those benchmarks) are more useful.

To break 90 on a pretty regular basis.  I've dipped into the 80's here and there - and it is awesome.  But I have a few terrible mistakes each round that keep me over 90.  I really want to be an 80's golfer.  It has been my goal for some time.  But instead of actually getting it into the 80's more often - what I've done is stop hitting over 95 almost every time.  Which is good too.  But I really want to be an 80's golfer.

1. Break 80 this year. I shot 82 three times last year.

2. Have a shot at par on every hole. Every hole is a stretch, but having a look at par most of the time is a goal.

3. Hit my long irons that I put back in the bag in place of hybrids well

1. Get to the range at least once a week. 2. Play at least 10 rounds. 3. Break 110, hopefully even 100 4. Play 9 holes without losing a ball. 5. Play a full round without losing a ball.

Break 90 again.  It's been a dozen years since I've done it, but this year I may have the time to practice more, since my daughter is really looking forward to playing a lot of golf this spring and I'll be able to bring her out for par-3 and excutive course rounds this summer, combining my desire to play more golf with my desire to spend time with the family.

In my bag: - Ping G20 driver, 10.5 deg. S flex - Ping G20 3W, 15 deg., S flex - Nickent 4dx 3H, 4H - Nike Slingshot 4-PW - Adams Tom Watson 52 deg. GW - Vokey 58 deg. SW -Ping Half Wack-E putter

I would like to:

1. Lower my handicap to under 5

2. Increase my driver distance avg from 260 to around 280.

3. To consistently hit my 4 and 5 irons more solidly.

My first goal was to complete my set of clubs that I am happy with. I have done that and my goals for the year are as follows.

1. Get out more often.

2. More consistent driving

3. Play consistently for 18 holes.

4. Try to break 85 and lower handicap

My goals for 2013 have changed because I changed jobs and I won't be able to play nearly as much this year.   I still hope to play at least 100 rounds, but 80 is more realistic.   Because I won't be playing nearly as much, my handicap is sure to rise.....I hope I can keep it under 5.

My revised goals for 2013:

1. 80-100 rounds played

2. Keep my HC at 4 or under

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs
-- Mizuno Mx-25 six iron-gap wedge
- Mizuno Mp-T4 56degree SW
- Mizuno Mp-T11 60degree SW
- Putter- Ping Cadence Ketsch

Primary goal is to get to 10 handicap or lower. I've been floating around 13 for the past couple of years, got some lessons set up so I'm determined to get down lower this season.

Goals for 2013:

1. Practice short game (outside of rounds) at least one hour a week. I work next to two golf courses and a great practice facility, no reason I can't make this one happen.

2. Break 90 more than once (have never done it)

3. Average under 2 putts per hole for the course of the season (more short game goals)

4. Play a full 18 at least every two weeks

Most of these are reachable with PRACTICE - which I have always taken lightly. I can't step out of the car on Saturday and expect to play well after I haven't touched the clubs in two weeks. Practice, practice, practice makes perfect (or at least better).

Just broke 90 for the first time today! If this becomes a regular thing, I'll have to update my #2 goal to 85.

Comfortably hit the ball well enough ( fairways and greens in reg) to score under 75. Even if I don't end up there after the round just feel like the shots were struck w ell. Really work with the 64 wedge and use it well. Work on taking a full parallel swing. ( I punch most all shots including my driver at times)

    • I do not follow amateur or Korn Ferry tour but this story might get me to pay attention. At age 15 to be as accomplished as he is makes me think we may be seeing a future star.  A story of him breaking out may help reinvigorate golf viewership. Miles Russell has a hot start, cools off but finishes with a 68 in first Korn Ferry event Miles Russell, a 15-year-old Jacksonville Beach resident, made his Korn Ferry Tour debut on...
    • Day 8: Indoor backswing work, mostly rehearsals of takeaway. Hit some balls wtih 6-iron working on adding flow, but not too Much which I tend to do, swaying too far away from target.
    • Day 55: 4/18/2024 Got to the range again today. Planned to do my priority pieces and then hit targets with irons. But after my priority pieces I hit a few drives and tugged them all hard left. .... Uh... oh boy.  So, I spent about a half hour trying to hit targets at the range with my driver.
    • Day 126 (18 Apr 24) - Trail arm only drill with the LW…focused on letting the club drop, engaging the bounce and letting the club pop the ball up….wrapped up by repeating drill with both hands on the club…
    • OPPs, I guess I have been doing the drill incorrectly, just ignore this.  But as they say, mistakes are learning opportunities. Let’s hope I can learn from mine.
