I've had 12 eagles over the last six decades:

My first was when I was in high school (1966-68) at Green Valley Golf Course, a little 9 holes course in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. The second hole was a 500 yard par 5. I hit a driver and 4 wood, then made the putt. It must be noted that Green Valley was sold for real estate development and then when the market went soft was allowed to become overgrown. Very sad.

I had two more in the 70's both par 5's - on in two and made a putt.

I only had one in the 80's during our neighborhood golf league matches. It was a 30 yard pitch shot on a par 5.

My most productive decade was the 90's where I had 4 eagles. The first two I used a Ping BeCu lob wedge (which is still in my bag) to hole out. Then in the spring of '99 I knocked in my second shot on a par 4 from 160 yards with a King Cobra 6 iron with my daughter along as witness, and in the fall of the year I was on a par five in two and then made a putt.

In 2001 I cut a tee shot over a severe dogleg and almost drove a par 4 green. I then chipped in with a Cleveland 792 VAS eight iron. Then on July 26th, 2006 I had a hole in one on number 8 at River Forest in Freeport, PA with a Ben Hogan Edge 5 iron.

My last two eagles came last year on par 4's hitting a Ping i3+ into the hole from 115 and 110 respectively.

I can only hope the next 6 decades are equally productive.

Congrats! Eagles are a big deal, and don't come around very often, even for a lot of better players. Ask me how I know...... :~(

my first eagle was made the second time i ever was on a golf course.

i was following classes English during summer holiday and in afternoon

i took my first golf lessons. after my first week i went out on the course

with the local pro, we stood at a 186 yard par 3, the green was elevated  with

bunkers left and right making the green look like a cup. i hit a 3 iron that hooked

to the left bank off the bunker bounced on the green and rolled in.

my first and only hole-in-1. now playing for 16 years.

Short par 4, 275-280 to the pin. Drove it into the right greenside bunker. Somehow hit a pin seeking sand shot that landed 6 ft from the cup and tracked in. I made the groundskeeper who was nearby high five me.

My first eagle memory is from the same hole as boogielicious, Far Corner Fox #9, late October 2001, CHC was 17 then, ~170 yards out on the far right side of the fairway (tees were up that day so maybe playing 420-430 yards), pulled a five iron pretty badly as I was just trying to lay up over the pond and short of the hole on the right side (trying to play safe). The extra distance from the pull (with a slight draw) actually put the ball on the green!

Putt was from about 4 feet above and a 10 feet left of the hole. Unlike boogielicious I felt this might be my first, last, and only chance for an eagle so was determined to make the putt ... ball missed the hole and went off the green and way down the hill fronting the green. Didn't even end up with a par .

As long as I live I don't think I'll ever forget the vivid memory of the shock and horror that shot through my mind in the first few seconds after the ball drifted by the hole and it started calculating what was going to happen next. Up to that instant I was only calculating what would happen when I made the putt ... ... ... ... pretty much in that order ... live and learn!

Don't remember any details of the first actual eagle though, but did get other chances ... luckily!

I had my first EAGLE on Sunday!  I am a higher handicap (shot in the mid to upper 90s).  It was on a 350 yard Par 4.  I put my drive right into some trees but I was only 100 yards out.  It was an uphill green and you couldn't see the hole, just the flag.  My drive actually ended up with a decent lie and just a little bit of an opening through the trees.  I had a good feeling I could get it through the trees onto the green so I figured "what the hell" and brought out my 56* sand wedge.  Hit it clean and saw it hit the front of the green and roll out.  My playing partner and I have a running joke between that anytime someone sticks the green we say "that might be in the hole", but of course it never is.  When we got up to the green, his was on but we couldn't find mine.  Searched around the fringe and rough to no avail.  So, I took a walk to the hole and what do you know it's in hole!!!!  I let out a huge "F*** Yeah!"  that could have probably been heard two holes over.  I was so hyped.  FIRST EAGLE and it was on a Par 4.

The course we were playing was doing maintenance on the back 9 so we had to play the front 9 twice.  When we played the hole again during the back 9, I had a double bogey 6.  Just goes to show the nature of the game.  You can never play the same hole the exact same way and that is why I love golf!!

I know this isn't technically what the post is asking, in light of the OP's pictures I just thought I'd share:

My closest to an eagle came last night, nice end to the round anyway.

1999.  #3 at Hobble Creek in Springville Utah.  It's a medium length par 5.  I hit a decent drive and a three-wood into the bunker.  I holed out from the bunker.  Had one more eagle that summer.

Didn't have another eagle until 2011.  I had one.  2012 was a great year though, I had three!  None for 2013 yet though...

I was about 15 or 16, and still learning, was playing to a 28 hdcap at the time. I was in Hawaii playing Poipu Beach with my father and grandfather.  I was hitting my 3rd shot on a par 5 and skulled the ball into the flag that was flopping in the wind... the ball got held and it dropped into the cup!  Since then I have made 1 other, and had about 10-20 eagle puts on par 5s (I like to hit it long) but nothing as entertaining or exciting as that one was!

I almost had my second in as many days, this one would have been a 1 on the card though.

I've had 5 of them... 2 were legit, on in 2 par 5's with 1 putts. One was a putt from the fringe, so basically the same. One was a freak 8 iron from 140 out or so on a par 4. But the first was a stupid ugly hole in one... 175 yards, skulled stinger of a 4-Hybrid, slicing around from way to the left, dribbles up from about 30 yards in front of the green and voila... Aced it! It was an expensive shitshow. That's how it's done boys :/

My first Eagle was in Junior High I believe.  Hit a pitching wedge from about 100 yards out.  Bounced and rolled right in the hole, very exciting and still remember it to this day.  Haven't had any Eagles like that since.  They have either been on in two one putt Par 5 eagles or Par 5 chip in eagles.

My Sticks - Titleist 913D3 9.5* , 913F 3W 15*, 913H 21* & 24*, Titleist 714 AP2 5-PW w/ DG S300, Vokey SM5 52* & 56* & 60* Wedges, Scotty Cameron Futura X

They all sound legit to me. It's not "how" it's "how many".

My first came when I was about 15. I dont remember how long it was. That course closed about 6 years ago. But I hit driver, 7 wood. And made my putt. I had another one on Wednesday. 285 yard par 4 put my driver ten feet from the cup and made my put for a 2.

    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
