I was recently in the market for new golf shoes and was wondering if anyone has used the new Cleats that are permanent, not replaceable. They start around $100, wondering if they are as stable as the traditional styles and how they hold up with a full swing, in the sand, etc. thanks

I have the Oakley Ripcords, which aren't replaceable.  They grip OK, but I do notice that they're wearing much faster than I would like.

My playing partner has Eccos and they seem to grip much better, and they definitely wear better.  His hardly show any signs of wear, where mine are going to have to be replaced soon.  Of course, the Eccos cost nearly double the Oakleys, so I would expect them to last a lot longer.

A lot of guys here like the True Golf shoes, they have non replaceable nubs. I think they are fugly as sin, but i have heard nothing but good things from the guys here.

I wear them to and from the course only, along with a stop on the way home to pick up a drink/get gas/food.  The spikes (more like nubs) are very soft on the Oakleys as well.  They're as soft as the rubber on the old school style foam and rubber soles of tennis shoes.  I've probably walked at least 50 rounds, maybe more in them.  While the Oakleys are super light and comfortable, I probably won't buy another set after seeing how much better the Eccos hold up over approximately the same number of rounds, and more off-course use than mine.  He's even worn them to work quite a few times when we are planning on getting a couple holes in during lunch or hitting the range.

I snapped a couple of pictures of the soles to show the wear.  While taking the pictures, I also noticed that the rubber soles are starting to separate from the foam.  I also didn't realized they were worn as much as they actually are.  I have worn through the heel and into the foam like we used to do with our old tennis shoes.  They've officially made it through a single busy golf season, and will have to be replaced now.  They are definitely comfortable, but in this case, comfort does now come with durability.

And yes, they're dirty......... lol

Oatmeal Creme Pies..........  My nemesis actually.

I'd better not pull up those pictures when my wife is home, she'd freak if she saw that I moved the stuff on the island around to put a pair of shoes up there.

Thanks for the pics, that's funny something I would do. I have a pair of Nike shoes and foot joy, I play about 20-30 rounds a year and I replace my cleats in the beginning and mid season. I'd like to give these a try, I will def look into the eccos, thanks

    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
