Hitting a perfect drive right on the sweet spot still does it for me. Also a pured 5i is awesome as well.

A perfect high draw with a 6-Iron.

Any iron shot that lands and just stops on the green for a GIR. I also love hitting nice flop shots.

Probably my little 3/4 gap wedge from around 105 yards that comes in with about a 5 yard draw, hits just shy of the pin, and stops on the second bounce for a 2-3 foot birdie putt....

I can't miss with that shot....

That's it. That's my favorite shot to hit... Gapper from anywhere between 100-130... What an awesome club...

...and a right to left breaking putt that drops right in the center.

200 yards with a 6 Iron? I'd have to hit that sucker twice! Just how far do you hit your driver?

Yeh that's one long six iron.

You sound real confident with this club so why not play your tee shots so that you are required distance out from the green? Back on track. Any shot that has that crisp sound and that feel as it leaves the club face that tells you it is well struck dead on target and got back spin. Don't I hate this game cause that is the darn shot that keeps bringing me back!!

Yeh that's one long six iron.

Well the typical par 4 is what like 350-375 yards. That means i'd hit 175 of the tee so i can lay up for it. I would much rather hit driver and be under 100 yards to the green. I mean i am an 18 handicap. Shorter shots are always better.

Although I started this thread with the 7i in mind, the gap wedge runs a close second lately. Took one out of the rough from a hair over 100 yards last night, stopped about 3 feet from the pin, left me an easy putt to save par. Great club.

Any shot that comes off just as I had planned and visualized gives me the most joy. I don't care if it's a low cut 4-iron or a little flop shot or a tricky five-footer.

A nice, crisp greenside bunker shot than lands and checks close. Orgasmic.

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
