How?

What I meant by "not being against the person" was this. I may think profanity in public is wrong, but I don't hate the person. Again, to me, this discussion boils down to a belief in god/bible. Whenever a discussion leads down this road, again IMO, nobody "wins". PS: I did not mean any offense to anyone. If offense was taken, I apologize.

The problem with that is two-fold:

1) The bible can be taken to mean a lot of things. Some people take the bible more literally than others.

2) This isn't a religious debate.

I don't think anyone's been offended yet, but I tend to overestimate by an order of magnitude or more the thickness of people's skins.

A line has to be drawn somewhere, and I've drawn it where I've drawn it.

okay.  wow.  funny we can talk all day and praise a golfer who committed adultery numerous times with a bunch of skanks, yet talking about the prospect of a professional golfer who is attracted to men is repulsive.

i only asked to know, not because of any other reason than curiosity.  i'm not gay myself, but have no problems with them so long as they aren't overly flamboyant; but the jocks who are overly jocky and blondes who are overly blonde are equally as annoying.

i guess being a gay professional athlete in some sports is still considered taboo, as evident in many of the responses to this thread.

If some people are indeed born homosexual and have no choice, how do some of them stop participating being in same sex relationships? I've known several that turned away from it (both male and female) although all of them were at Church. They entered into hetrosexual relationships at that point and are happy. Perhaps that's what it boils down to.

What about Bisexual people? How is it they have a choice?

Are all Homosexuals born that way? Can someone just be a little curious then find out it's not for them? If so, then you'd have to admit there IS a choice being made.

The fact that non-religious people in the U.S. is somewhere south of 33% yet more than 50% of Americans support gay marriage should indicate that it doesn't have to. (Hopefully that didn't cross any lines.) Now I'm going to go post in some golf threads to atone for my lack of will power shown by posting here.

I believe it is a tendency they are born with. Similar to many other tendencies people are born with. Where I differ is, I believe it is something that should be "fought" against, and not given in to. I also realize my belief is in the minority. It does not mean that I am not entitled to it.

I was only slightly offended when I felt I was being called a moron. :)

there is pretty strong evidence that if during certain periods of pregnancy a mother has hormonal imbalances, the fetus' sexuality can be altered.

has anyone ever read anything by alfred kinsey?  he says something to the extent that all men and women fall somewhere on a scale of 0-100 in terms of sexuality.  if you considered 0 homo and 100 hetero, you yourself might fall at an 85, which would imply you have some homosexual tendencies.  although, that doesn't necessarily mean you will ever or have ever considered having sex with another man.  sexuality is more than just intercourse preference, though the closer you get to the ends of the spectrum, the more likely your partner choice is clear.

likewise many people probably fall somewhere in the middle, and perhaps even are non sexual completely, but find solstice in a stable relationship regardless of gender.

Nobody - on either side - has said anything like that.

It's yet another example of how religion (just stating facts here - religious people are far more likely to be against homosexual equal rights/privileges) is holding us back as human beings.

I saw a Kindle commercial where some woman in a bikini was reading and the guy in the next lounge chair was "hitting on her" - except he wasn't, because they both said they were waiting for their husbands to bring them drinks. The commercial stood out to me because I knew that people would have a reaction to it, when they shouldn't. You see car commercials where parents let their kids take the car for a "date night" and I hope some day soon in a montage of kids going out on dates one or two show a gay couple, and that it's NO BIG DEAL. That nobody even really notices.

So please, be mature in this thread, and don't reveal yourself to a moron.

And if for some reason you're "against" homosexuals, please come up with a better reason than "the bible says so" (because then it will become a debate on religion) or "that's not the way nature says it should be" (because there are plenty of facts in that area already which show homosexuality is not isolated to homo sapiens).

Just want to say, great post

Ok ok, take away 'idiotic' and 'moronic' from all my posts on this subject, and replace with 'ignorant' or 'misguided' or 'incorrect'. No need for name calling, I agree. I apologize for name calling.

Wow is that wrong. If you drew gravity force vectors all around the Earth you would see that it pulls in an infinite number of directions.

If someone on tour is gay it's none of our business. But for the sake of the discussion, it wouldnt surprise me one bit. The REAL question is would the PGA Tour and CBS cameras televise a tour players partner running on the 18th to congratulate the player after a win????

I have a member of my family and a close friend who are openly gay. They both say no one chooses to be gay. Why would you? You basically get looked down on like a deviant from closed minded people, and you spend your entire life fighting for the rights heterosexual people take for granted.

To answer the original question, I do not know of any openly gay male profession golfers. Lesbians and the LPGA, that's a whole different thing.  I would think that golf's somewhat stuffy image might not be too attractive to gay men. Hopefully golf continues to fight this image and the game continues to grow in all areas.

Reread his post.  The fact that they do not "choose" is the exact point he was making.

It's not gay unless the (golf) balls touch.

It pulls in one direction relative to the body of matter in question, i.e. the earth, the sun, etc. Besides the point; Gravity works how it works, and it is governed by natural laws. To claim that this is untrue is incorrect.

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
