to each his own on fashion but I can't stand courses that allow jeans on the course. Personally, golf has so much history that it just crosses the line for me.

jeans and jean shorts especially are low class on a golf course...it screams 30 handicap, case of beer and ready for league play.

I'm pants unless it's over 100 and a solid color golf shirt...I have about 25 in my closet in a variety of colors.

someone had to say it and I agree with you, its a normal thing at my local course. I'm ok with other people doing it because its a cheap local Muni... I always dress with class but thats just me I guess. if I want something nice I play somewhere nice, just how it works. But people in jeans who don't fix their divots or ball marks and enjoy swearing every other word do annoy me after a bit

Personally, I really don't care. I go wearing a T-shirt and regular shorts. Sometimes at nice courses I'll wear a polo shirt instead of a tee. But, really, it isn't a big deal to me. Jeans are just out of the question because of the heat in the summer, although I wouldn't rule that out in the winter time.

As long as people don't look like they just came from a construction site, it's fine by me.

People who don't fix their divots or pitchmarks annoy the hell out of me (especially if the best drive of the day lands in someone else's divot hole), but swearing on every other word is all part of the golf round.

Come on girls, Who really gives a rats arse what you wear? I couldn't care less as long as it's not a speedo.

Dress any way that makes you comfortable. The LPGA allows many more options that the stuffy PGA will ever consider. Way to go LPGA! Hit the ball ! Shop at Wal-Mart for bargans, Just don't buy your equipment or balls there. I don't swear after every shot only the bad ones, maybe 45 a round, max.

Hey, I wouldn't mind if a girl showed up in a miniskirt. It would make the scenery that much nicer (although it would probably cost me three strokes a side).

And, yeah! I get almost all of my clothing from Wal-Mart these days, because it's so cheap there. Swearing 45 times a round? Hmm... Ok, you've got me beat.

this weekend was a great example of golf attire... what a setting for these pros to bring out some of the most outrageous outfits. i loved every minute of it...

you have to have some big ones and a nice game to rock something like that

I guess I'm low class even though I don't have a 30 handicap, play in a league or drink more than two beers a round. If the course rules allow (and mine does) I wear jeans in the cold weather. I play when it is in the upper 20's and above. I also fix my divots and ball marks and usually 3 more that someone else left behind.

Loyalty above all else, except honor.

I think the atire should fit the surroundings. I play my Wednesday night league on a course that is shorter. It attracts younger players and some less serious players. It doen't bother me to see the group behind me in t-shirts and cargo shorts. In fact, I have been wearing some light weight cargo shorts with my polo's lately. They are comfortable and don't look bad. If I am playing a nicer course, I dress the part. Flat front pants or shorts with a polo.

The worst ever was a round I played with my wife and another couple up North. It was one of her bridesmaids and her husband. The guy was wearing a wife beater and cut off jean shorts. He also had a porno stash and a short mullet. We played the front nine and the wives decided to go back to our cottage. The husband and I made the turn and after the 11th hole, when we are out of sight of the club house he took off his shirt. Thank God it was a slow day out there. We didn't see too many people out there, but I stayed on the opposite side of the fairway as much as I could while playing a twosome.

I like to stay up on course fashion, but I believe things have become a little too untraditional. I mean, now you have the worlds greatest player wearing a 'mock collared' shirt. I do not care if it has the word 'mock' in front of it or not, that is not a collared shirt. Golf is a sport where the phrase 'act as if' applies. If you go out there dressed like a slouch, you deserve to play like a slouch. However, if you go out dressed like a tour pro and act like you know what you are doing, you tend to focus a little more and it does tend to help your game out if you take it a little more serious. Of course, never too serious because then the added pressure you put on yourself seems to stifle any chance you had at a good round. On the flip side, whenever I go out in a 4 some of my close friends, we tend to screw around a little too much, get a little too casual and my golf game usually suffers from it.

In short, stick to slacks and polo's.

Blue/ Grey Adidas color block clima cool. Khaki shorts (no cargo's). Blue Titleist hat with Cleveland Indians logo on the side.

or in competitive play...

Light blue lacoste polo. Black Adidas shorts. Black foot joys. Black FJ gloves. Goes well with every thing in my golf bag being black (DFX, Gunmetal 588).

I draw the line at cutoffs and sleeveless shirts. T-shirts and shorts do not bother me, jeans do not bother me as long as they are not ripped/torn/holey. I think the point made about "dressing to your surroundings" is apt.

Most the places I play are cheap municipal courses that are geared toward recreational players, and I do not mind seeing people who aren't dressed to the nines at a place that puts more emphasis on their Friday night fish fry than their bunker maintenance.

When I go to a place that is a little nicer, though, I dress accordingly. I'll switch from a t-shirt or Hawaiian shirt to a traditional polo or collared long sleeve, depending on the weather, and khaki or black dress-style pants.

Were I to play a round at Medinah...well...let's just say I'd have to go shopping beforehand.

I always wear pants unless it's above 95 or so. We have an IZOD outlet about 80 minutes from my house, so I have a lot of polo shirts from there.

I'm okay with shorts, but I wish those shorts with 14 pockets weren't allowed. They're always baggy and really aren't golf fashion. I think mock necks are fine... so long as you have the physique to pull them off. It's funny that some courses sell them but won't allow you to play in them.

I'm a huge fan of mocks and don't believe that the lack of a collar makes it any less a golf shirt. A golf shirt is a shirt usually consisting of 3 or 4 buttons but never two. This eliminates any Ralph Lauren Polo shirts (unless its their golf line). With that in mind, a Nike golf or any other golf manufactures mock is more of a golf shirt than a two buttom casual polo.

3 buttons!!!!!!!!!! also, I button every button... its weird but its what I do.
I picked up the nicest pink Titleist hat today too, its real sharp.

I usually wear the same clothes as I wear at my office. Nice Polo and pleated khakis. My trousers are very lightweight so they are not too warm in the summer. I'm not out to impress anyone and don't have a haughty attitude. I'm just more comfortable. If I'm coming home before i go to the driving range I will sometimes change into khaki shorts but I'm usually trying to beat the leagues to try to get out for a quick 9 after work so it's usually trousers and a polo.
