Agreed. One small point.

You're doing a much better job of this here than the first third or so at Metedeconk, where you'd lay the shaft down but uncock fully to the red line (left). Keep trying to leave the shaft close to the green line (doesn't have to be all the way to it let alone past it), and pay attention to the left wrist to remove any cupping. Doesn't have to be super arched, but in slow motion it should be arched a little via your "down and under" motion with the right wrist (that was the feel that clicked with you right)?

Yes, that was the feel that worked. After getting used to the motion, I realize at slower speeds I'm kicking out the shaft around A6 ish. I have to feel the "down and under" all the way to the ball. I think I'll really start to get it when the first few balls of the practice session I'm not shanking the easy first swings.

Sadly, this may be the last time I can comfortably practice in shorts this year, so long nice weather in 2014.

Still working on and getting used to the down and under move on the DS, getting used to having the wrist more bowed from P6 - P7.5. Should be 2, 3 more rounds and I'll really trust the move a lot more. Also working on trying to keep the BS short. Also, the shaft looks a little steep @ P9ish.

Wondering why my butt doesn't stay on the wall though. Not "compressing" into the ground enough?

Because that's currently helping you shallow the club.

Still too steep at 5 (much better though), but then the early extension stuff helps you shallow it out even more. Pay attention to that, and keep shallowing things the right way (wrist stuff we worked on).

P.S. Left wrist still a little cupped, which goes away when you do the right wrist feel properly to shallow the club in transition down to 5. Remember, though you practiced by "going to 5 and then doing the wrist thing," you need to start the wrist thing during your transition and throughout the downswing.

Thanks. What I found is when I do the drill, I do the wrist thing better. But then I go to the regular swing and I regress a little. I will work on the drill more.

I noticed when I hit the shorter clubs, like pw, sw, I really feel the left wrist bow, right wrist cup. I think I'm doing to hook it 20 yards, but it draws a couple of yards.

I'm also starting to understand intuitively that the more shallow the shaft is at P5 and on, it'll help me keep my "butt on the wall" more.

Working on the shaft plan P5 on. Still a WIP, but a tad better.

Exaggerating shaft lay down here. Got shaft to point outside the ball before P5. Also exaggerating the lead wrist bowing, face is super duper closed on the follow through. The downswing felt very different, like I was dropping the club to the floor. Compared to same P5 2 swings above, shaft pointing well outside ball. This swing feels very different, exaggerating two things (shaft lay down and wrist bow) at the same time, but I think I can replicate it more consistently. I usually hit straight pushes or straight draws - getting more push draws now.

I'm not working on this piece exactly. I guess I forgot to update my thread with my lesson summary; I'll do so tonight.

The glimpses I got of Bill's lesson, I'm pretty sure he was doing something else.

But the steep shaft from the top - I'm guessing this is the bane of a majority of golfers. The shaft wants to go on that steep plane. It needs to go on that steep plane! (A Few Good Men) :-P

I'm right there with you guys.. if we took a poll I bet a good percentage of us are working on this.. ugh.. I've been talking with Stephan about the shaft shallowing out at A5 (pointing about 6-12 inches on the right side of the ball) and then going through the forearms before finally having the clubhead inside the hands at A6..  getting there, but a lot of work for me too..

I think it is a very common issue.

Today (L) versus 2 days ago (R). An old nemesis showed up. Overdoing the shoulder down. My head is going down and forwards towards the target. Shoulders are steep, makes me do weird stuff. I consider this a lost practice session. I finally realized next day what I was doing wrong despite having video available.

Today vs 5 days ago. The swing on the right I'm just doing whatever I can to flatten the shaft but doing a mini limbo of sorts. Coming out of original inclination, head more off the wall.

Clubface, Key #5 is terrrrrrible. To sum up, think I was better able to do "down and under" without going through contrived positions and also better position (shorter BS) at P4.

Better able to do the down and under drill without doing the pump thing. Just keep going forward.

Still working on the down and under, but glad to see that key #3, impact looks as it did the last lesson, sand wedge and 3 iron alike.

Three different looking swings, but managing to point shaft at or outside ball.

Not sure if I'm "faking it" in some of these swings by putting P4 in such a laid off position. In 2 swings here, shaft pointing way outside ball at P4 already.

P1 and P4 positions vary, but that might be because I'm so focused on P4-P6.

Comparing current swing to swing in summer. 4-12 degrees of difference. I was on a different "plane". :-O

Not really changing the picture much. Noticed a little space under left armpit on takeaway. Longer clubs still giving me problems. Coming out of inclination, harder to shallow shaft.

A couple of observations. The higher the hands, the easier it is to unshallow (duh) and point the shaft outside ball. I can bring it back high and steepen it on the way down and still point outside the ball. The lower the hands on the way back, not so easy.

P5-P6, hands in, throw clubhead out, right shoulder down, better contact.

Eliminating that overswing at the top where I point to clubhead to the right (arm runoff?) makes things harder (duh).

You're being too hard on yourself. The last video was good.

You could also experiment with the feeling of your right palm facing more skyward in transition and through 5.

But it's really quite close.
