I've been Playing Golf for: 1year 1month

My current handicap index or average score is: -

My typical ball flight is: Straight down

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull

Videos:

Yup I'm Asian

Things to note -

I never had a coach since i started.

Learned everything myself

Only 1 Year since i started

7 Iron 170 Yards

8 Iron 160 Yards

9 Iron 150 Yards

PW 140 Yards

(This is with range balls and range mats - No compression and wind)

Things to say.

I'm sorry if i have offended anyone by commenting in this forum earlier on. Just want to express my feelings and thoughts as a 19 years old who have not much financial support and accessibility i am proud to say that within my means i can play good golf within a year. All i ever did was practice hard and smart so for those who started 7 - 10 years ago you should unarguably be 5x better than me.

So therefore my thoughts were implying that golfers with 5-15 years of game time and exposure should be able to swing a conventional swing at least. Hence my sarcastic remarks that help is all around , on-line , friends, gadgets so no excuses if you REALLY want to improve on your game.

Lastly of course i will accept comment and remarks and insults or whatsoever on my swing. Lousy IPhone camera  (don't blame me) but this is the best even after editing and etc.

Peace.

I find it interesting that your syntax is very different in this thread.

Anyway, great swing in that video.

Good swing though!

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

would like to see a DTL swing, especially considering all your comments on mike's thread about how horrible his positions are, and what you think a good one is like.

Driver: 10.5* callaway Razr Hawk Tour - 350 yards(usually into the wind, it can be windy here. at least 400 with a little wind behind me)

Hybrids: 2 and 3 callaway Hybrid razr tour (312 and 287 respectively)

Irons: 3i-10i callaway forged standard length(278, 263, 250, 235, 221, 213, 201, 190)

Wedges: callaway jaws cc 52* 12 approach, 56* 16 sand, 60* 13 lob (0-185)

Odyssey Black tour #9 putter(5 ft, i'm always at least within 5 feet on my approach shot)

I wonder who on this forum is a PGA tour pro, disguised as a normal player..

And you call yourself a golfer right?  Look at that shirt...  No one would ever believe you play golf wearing that shirt.  DO YOU EVEN OWN SOCKS?  I bet it stinks to have to ride in the same cart with you for even 9 let alone 18 holes.  Oh, and lose the red grip.  No one can play golf with a red grip.

All of the above sounds pretty ****ing stupid doesn't it?  Not any different than the gibberish you're spouting.  Tone it down a bit and the people around here would probably help you a lot.

Is it possible that the swing posted does not belong to the OP? That's about the only thing that would make sense out of all the childish posts.  Generally, as one sees improvement in their game, they should feel less need to belittle others, and might in fact try to offer help.  I haven't seen any of that here, which makes me wonder whether he just took a video of an accomplished golfer at the driving range.

my gosh another one appears.

Skype? Or face time? I'll do a live one for you :D  DTL? FO?

The reason i dare to make so much noise on other people's post because i know I've been through that phase and successfully overcame it and i know why and how because i am self learned and not listening to other people's advise/teaching

So instead of trying to belittle me how about just give your honest comments? Bad or good there's always room for improvement!

I don't think anyone wants to help you, because all you do is treat everyone here like an idiot... like assuming gwlee7's swing is worse than yours because he doesn't like the way you act like a child.

Nobody has any problem with your golf swing (except for losing a yard or two by falling back at the end of your driver swing). Everybody has a problem with your know it all attitude. I know some really good golfers with State Amateur Championsips, collegiate wins and All-Conference honors, Mini Tour wins, and Nationwide Tour top ten finishes. Not one of them chooses to belittle other golfers the way you do, and not one has a head the size of yours or is totally in love with themselves like you are.

Like a child? How about asking him to start acting like an adult then? If he had not given such a comment would i reply with such a inappropriate comment as well?

haha I'm sure gwlee7's actions are very commendable and appropriate yeah? So matured and responsible as an adult to make fun of a child (Me)

Yep, I call BS on only playing for a year as well, unless you are jobless and do nothing but swing a golf club and "teach yourself". Seems you are online a lot though for that.

You called BS who confirm? And what stakes are we looking at if i'm able to prove it?

And i'm online because it's +7 GMT here whereas ET over there hence the time difference.

You accused me of uploading a fake video. Then say i have no desire to receive anything constructive when clearly i stated that any comments/feedbacks would be good? Like i said just comment about it if not nevermind?

why the anger? did i even say anything?

Of course it's possible.  The OP isn't being 100% truthful about something...not sure what, but something.

That makes no f**king sense.  Successfully overcoming something is no compelling reason to deride others for being unable to overcome it.  There is a natural tendency of people who successfully overcome obstacles to be humbled by them and then appreciate the struggle.  It's the inherent douchebags who take the opposite approach.  Your rationale is poppycock.  You either never overcame said obstacles within the past year, or you are just being a douchebag because that's who you are.

    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
    • Wish I could have spent 5 minutes in the middle of the morning round to hit some balls at the range. Just did much more of right side through with keeping the shoulders feeling level (not dipping), and I was flushing them. Lol. Maybe too much focus on hands stuff while playing.
    • Last year I made an excel that can easily measure with my own SG data the average score for each club of the tee. Even the difference in score if you aim more left or right with the same club. I like it because it can be tweaked to account for different kind of rough, trees, hazards, greens etc.     As an example, On Par 5's that you have fescue on both sides were you can count them as a water hazard (penalty or punch out sideways), unless 3 wood or hybrid lands in a wider area between the fescue you should always hit driver. With a shorter club you are going to hit a couple less balls in the fescue than driver but you are not going to offset the fact that 100% of the shots are going to be played 30 or more yards longer. Here is a 560 par 5. Driver distance 280 yards total, 3 wood 250, hybrid 220. Distance between fescue is 30 yards (pretty tight). Dispersion for Driver is 62 yards. 56 for 3 wood and 49 for hybrid. Aiming of course at the middle of the fairway (20 yards wide) with driver you are going to hit 34% of balls on the fescue (17% left/17% right). 48% to the fairway and the rest to the rough.  The average score is going to be around 5.14. Looking at the result with 3 wood and hybrid you are going to hit less balls in the fescue but because of having longer 2nd shots you are going to score slightly worst. 5.17 and 5.25 respectively.    Things changes when the fescue is taller and you are probably going to loose the ball so changing the penalty of hitting there playing a 3 wood or hybrid gives a better score in the hole.  Off course 30 yards between penalty hazards is way to small. You normally have 60 or more, in that cases the score is going to be more close to 5 and been the Driver the weapon of choice.  The point is to see that no matter how tight the hole is, depending on the hole sometimes Driver is the play and sometimes 6 irons is the play. Is easy to see that on easy holes, but holes like this:  you need to crunch the numbers to find the best strategy.
    • Very much so. I think the intimidation factor that a lot of people feel playing against someone who's actually very good is significant. I know that Winged Foot pride themselves on the strength of the club. I think they have something like 40-50 players who are plus something. Club championships there are pretty competitive. Can't imagine Oakmont isn't similar. The more I think about this, the more likely it seems that this club is legit. Winning also breeds confidence and I'm sure the other clubs when they play this one are expecting to lose - that can easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
    • Ah ok I misunderstood. But you did bring to light an oversight on my part.
