Me too!!  I know of a couple of total clowns who went out there yesterday and just :poo:  the bed all over the back 9!  I definitely don't want to be like them.

I was only 6 over on the back. Not horrible... And I had 2 birds and a par so I would have helped my team... Plus the strokes I would get... Def gonna do better this Sunday!

I'm still waiting to hear back from carrx. I should know tomorrow if he's coming or not and at that time I'll update the groupings. It looks that we will have at least one group that goes out as a threesome and there might be a second as well. For those groups, they will play to their full course handicaps instead of 80% but obviously will not have a throw out score on each hole. I think that we are just going to stick with the 6/1 indexes unless everybody wants to get me the new ones... I know for my team it would balance out because even though Golfingdad's has dropped mine has risen.

If carrx does make it, we'd be one short of 20 players so if anybody knows anybody that wants to go let me know asap so I can move the groupings around. However, if we can't get back up to 20, that's no big deal either.

Mine is up to 12.9.  However I suggest we keep it at 6/1 to save the trouble of trying to get everybody's updated handicap the day before the event.

Guys, have fun. I'll be thinking of you, especially when the Tax Commission in a neighboring State changed the terms of our agreement so I don't have to show up. I coulda' been wich' ya. I coulda' been a contender ... not.

Enjoy! Take pics.

Mike & Brandon,

I'll probably try to join you for breakfast, rather than fumble around with my stove at 5am. If you don't mind, can you confirm where you guys are going?

I am not familiar with the exact area, But there is a place listed in this website in San Clemente open at 6:30am 7 days. http://www.breakfastorangecounty.com/ However, my son and I will probably pick up the breakfast hamburger at Carl's Junior on the way down. It's hard to wake him up this early on Sundays. Look forward to seeing you at the course. Go E team, at least we are another vowel team.

Colin, I think this is where they're going.

Actually, Mike can't make it, so he is just meeting us up at the course.  I've tried calling that place to see what time they open but kept getting a busy signal or something.  Weird.

So I may go by there around 6:30 and if they aren't open I'm going to IHOP, which appears to be closer to the course.  Big C, if you want to meet up you'd have to PM me so we can exchange numbers or something, cause this is kinda touch-and-go for me.

I went by that place.  It's open at 6:00, but looks pretty funky.  I was parked directly in front of it and had no idea where it was til I got out and started looking around.

Yeah sorry, figured I should get there early to check in and get the score cards together.  Also it's an hour drive for me.

It'd be shorter if you took the 5 to the 405, get off at ... that's all I got. It's late.

I should be there around 6:45 - 7:00 so I can help with that.

Spoke with carrx and he won't be able to make it... Here are the revised groupings.

Since bmartin461's index is 17.6 I decided to switch him and mdl so that entire groups are playing from the same tees and not having to stop more than once. I know Brad said that he would be good playing from the Blues but I think this way will make it a bit easier. Also, as I said earlier, the two threesomes will get 100% of their course handicap and have no throwout score where as the foursomes will have to play to 80% of their course handicaps and will take the best 3 of 4 on every hole.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
