This game is so frustrating..... Ugh!!!

Recommended Posts

Finally i broke into the 90's. consistently played for 6-7 weeks in the 93-97 range an now.... Putting has gone to hell. On the green in 2, sitting for a birdie and bam, bogie. If i get the line i dont get the distance / speed, if i get the speed / distance i dont get the line. Earlier it was 2 putts max maybe a couple of 3 putts, now, ugh, 3-4 putts every hole, maybe one 2 putt. HELP please

Take it one day at a time! Seriously, if you're not having fun, what's the point? It's VERY difficult to help out on a forum without knowing what you're doing wrong. Have you talked to a pro in your area to get a diagnosis?

I'm having fun but putting is driving me insane , i am either leaving it short or hitting the wrong line , i need putting drills to improve putting accuracy

I did an Aimpoint class last year it was the best thing I ever did for putting. It gives you confidence in the line so you just have to concentrate on speed. If you are working on your game it is money well spent. Enjoy the journey, might as well as far as I can tell you never actually arrive. Ask Rory I am sure he would agree at this point.

    • When I am feverish and have the flu or flu like symptoms my concentration level and patience goes as close to zero as possible.  However, a head cold with no muscle aches and I can make it through.  About 20 years back I hurt my right knee over swinging on the range (turned out to be a torn meniscus) but I was determined to play.  I could put very little weight on my right side and my follow through had a step forward like Gary Player.  I played an excellent round (for me) and although I did not crush the ball I stayed in the fairway on almost every shot.  Needless to say I played no golf for the next 8 weeks to let the tear heal. Great round by the way!
    • So just wondering......do ALL sets of tees have slope and Course ratings? Or would you still keep that to a select few tees?
    • Being a member somewhere?  I'd hate that, variety is what makes this game so much more satisfying.  That said, if I have the chance to just get in a quick weekday round, or am stuck at home and suddenly feel like I want to play, I tend to go to one of 5 courses between 20 and 30 minutes away. I've decided on and driven on the same day even as much as 4 hours there and 4 hours back just to get a round in somewhere I'm interested in.
    • There only one course (Cascades, a full-length 9 hole course that is part of Crystal Springs) in my area that has "green" tees which are for juniors, novices, or people that just cannot drive the ball more than 160-170. The LongLeaf system sounds great and I believe it could be done with a minimum of investment but I do not see it happening with the exception of resort courses (which is where the green tees are in my region).  Why?  My guess is that course operators look at it as more on-going maintenance in addition to an initial investment.  I believe it would be worth it by bringing out more golfers while keeping up with the pace of play.
    • Congrats on a great round, especially when suffering with the flu. I am on day 6 with the flu (diagnosed), and now know that death is probably not a bad thing.  I put down a 40' X 80' yard full of sod by myself. I was spent. Putting it down was not too bad, but I had to carry each piece from the font yard. I was maybe 35 at the time.  I had just sat down to admire my work with my favorite beverage in hand. My phone rang, and it was a good friend calling saying they needed a short stop for their men's soft ball team. I tried every excuse I could muster to not go. His friendship finaly got me to the field, which is when I found it was double header.  Long story short, l played as perfect a two games as one could ask for. No errors. Turned several double plays. Went 10 for 10 batting, with  4 of those going over the LF fence.  Spent the next couple of days in major muscle pain.
