He actually moved to JPX improvement irons to get more distance and make his game easier. He will also tell you why irons are going further now - jacked up lofts and longer shafts.

He has also said many times that whatever club you use it is about having the ball hit the middle of the face and have a straight clubpath at impact. The guy gives out tips and advice for free, why knock him. It is only an opinion he gives and he advises you to try out stuff and get your own opinion on it.

Any plain easy to understand instruction is ok in my book.

I mainly watch him because he does more club reviews than anyone else I've found on youtube. I've found other channels but they only seem to review on average about one club a month whereas Mark Crossfield at least seems to bring out some sort of club review every few days.

Can anyone suggest youtube channels for pros doing frequent club reviews that they think are better?

Just to add, I'm not interested in reviews that simply regurgitate the companies product description (as lots seem to do).

cmartingolf on you tube, that's chuck martin.

I just watched a few of crossfields videos! I kinda like him! I think his camera angles aren't the most helpful! But he's just given me a couple of things to think about... Like I need more things to think about!!

Out of all the pro's that use Youtube and the like I find he has the broadest range of videos. He does equipment reviews, mechanics, course strategy, lesson samples etc.. I'm a big fan of Jeff Ritter who has a growing channel list. Its great though to have free info like this. I learn just as much from the sample lessons as I do from the instructional segment. Its all good

I started out watching him for club reviews. I love all the data he provides. And I say a thing on the golf channel about Phil's swing and they said he has swing traits of a 36 handicap

What 36 handicap can strike a ball as well as he can? I wonder as to what aspects they are referring?

Seriously. He may be a little unorthodox at times but not a lot 36 cappers out there are winning majors. In fact, last time I checked it was zero.

They say he gets away with it because he's so good. It's like something about how most amateurs slice it or something.

I think his miss is big push to the left (as a lefty) but I could be wrong. Seems that whenever I see him in trouble it's on the left side but I don't watch as much golf as others on this forum so I may have that wrong. If I'm right about the push then I would suspect that any curve issue he has would more likely be hooks. Just spitballing here because I really don't know for sure what his misses are.

I think his downswing is like extremely steep or something so he can't turn aggressively. And the other day he was missing on both sides so I don't know.

Gotten off topic here about Phil's swing. I do like Mark Crossfield's swing. He gets his hands very high.

Makes more sense, thanks for straightening that out.

Mark Crossfield is great, he has helped my game so much. he is easy to understand and knows what he is on about.

I just watched him and gorilla playing against MeAndMyGolf last night. Fun to watch the rivalry between the two channels.

Both of the groups were pretty amazing, and they seemed to be having fun (at least Mark and Gorilla appeared to be). I think the MeAndMyGolf team were surprised at Mark and Gorilla's actual playing skill.

    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
