Tiger Woods is a god. Anyone or anything that may cause Tiger some kind of disruption, be it during a round or after, must be slammed in a thread. Anyone who dares challenge Tiger on any level must be slammed in a thread

I think that sums up the bulk of the thesandtrap.com

By the way, this is two tournaments in a row where Tiger has had some sort of controversy involving improving his chances....CHEATER!

@mtsalmela80: Take your anger out in some other thread. Let's not make this thread like the Masters one ended up.

Who will be playing with Lingmerth if both Tiger and Sergio finish at -11?

Dude, are you watching the same tournament we are? With the distance and the crowd surrounding him, there was no line of sight for Tiger to see Sergio, and he went by what the marshal told him. Besides, the applause had already started before he was swinging. Sergio chose to swing away even though he could've backed off and waited for the crowd to quiet down. Then when he hit a bad shot he blames everyone else. At least he said he could've hit a bad shot either way...

Just curious. The feud between Tiger and Sergio is certainly not the first time two pro golfers have been paired up against each other with a mutual distain for one another. Has there ever been a situation where the animosity ever transitioned into a physical confrontation ala pro hockey like fights.

If Tiger was further back, why did Garcia hit out of turn?

Tournament officials just screwed up on the final round pairings. Garcia and Woods finished tied. Woods shot a lower round and finished before Garcia on 18, but they're putting Sergio in the final group. First in, last out? Apparently not.

LOL at Tiger lovers.

If you actually believe what you say you must have no idea of reality. Sergio was in the middle of his freakin swing when the "Tiger" crowd erupted.

There is no real knowing what happened, but its possible Tiger tried to screw up Sergio, not for sure, but its possible.

Because he is Tiger and the PGA lets him do what he wants at all times.

I understand he brings a lot to the PGA, but altering the rules for his play is wrong.

There would be no controversy in either thread if Tiger simply played by the rules. Like I said, this is 2 in a row involving some problem with Tiger.

If he just played well I would have no problem, but he has to create these problems.

When is the last freaking time that a PGA player played out of turn? Can anyone tell me?

OK, how about a response from someone who isn't cranky.

Playing out of turn is really only an issue in match play. Just wondering, did you see the split screen simultaneous view of both players?

I just assumed from the commentary that Woods was further back because he was in the woods and Garcia was on the fairway.

Can you tell me how pulling a club is playing out of turn? Sergio is being a bitch, as usual.

Watch the replay where it shows both of them in synch.

It will show you that Sergio is a horse's butt. At the same time, Tiger could have apologized.

The replay shows that Tiger took out a club, the crowd reacted, and Sergio had plenty of time to back off ... he was over the shot (and probably regripping and regripping), when the crowd erupted. Plenty of time to back off. He was using the crowd noise as an excuse for his poor shot...

Sergio is also known on Tour as being temperamental/cranky

cmon tiger!  get a good nights sleep, rest up.  sweet dreams, buddy!

Oompa-loompa would easily kick you and your 11-HCP ass even if he gave you a stroke a hole.

Good luck to him - don't think he'll shoot well under the pressure, but props to him for getting this far.

The hole, as golf fans know, is the 132-yard par-3 No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., the site of The Players Championship, which is to be played this week and carried on the Golf Channel and NBC. It is the signature hole of the course.

During a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Chamblee explained why he doesn't like it.

"I think it comes too late in the round," Chamblee said. "I think it has the potential to play too much of a role for the quality of the hole. It's 130 yards and . . . sometimes it's an absolute nothing short iron when the wind is not blowing. But when the wind is blowing, there is too much luck involved in the shot and too much of the penalty for a miss.

"I really do think this tournament should be a major," Chamblee said. "I absolutely think this tournament should be a major. I think one of the things that keeps it from really getting its due is the 17th hole. If you look at the way Augusta National or the Masters become a major, it grew into a major organically. There was a reverence there, an awe there, and over a period of time, people looked at it and went, this is a major. You can't deny the quality of the people and the quality of this golf course.

"But there's a contrived part of that 17th hole that makes it great TV, that makes it great drama, that I think just makes the feel of the golf course quirky," Chamblee said. "The rest of the golf course is fabulous. But . . . I love watching it as an analyst."

Chamblee's comments on TPC Sawgrass are OK that is his opinion. I disagree about the 17th hole. usually by late afternoon the wind on the east coast of Florida is always blowing with lots of gusts. Tuck a pin in on the edge and you really see who has the skill and nerve to go pin hunting. The 17th hole has been one the most interesting holes to watch. I would wager that most casual PGA fans if asked what holes do you enjoy watching the 17th would be second only to the famed 16th hole at the Phoenix Open.

That's an understatement. Even his good friend Adam Scott, who is as laid back as it gets, got frustrated with Garcia's temper tantrum antics last year at the PGA Championship.

It's been asked before and you still haven't answered, have you seen the split screen of them both? If you have and you're still yapping, it's because you're just a Tiger hater and facts don't enter into your thought process. If you haven't seen it, then you're just talking out of your ass.

    • Day 55: 4/18/2024 Got to the range again today. Planned to do my priority pieces and then hit targets with irons. But after my priority pieces I hit a few drives and tugged them all hard left. .... Uh... oh boy.  So, I spent about a half hour trying to hit targets at the range with my driver.
    • Day 126 (18 Apr 24) - Trail arm only drill with the LW…focused on letting the club drop, engaging the bounce and letting the club pop the ball up….wrapped up by repeating drill with both hands on the club…
    • OPPs, I guess I have been doing the drill incorrectly, just ignore this.  But as they say, mistakes are learning opportunities. Let’s hope I can learn from mine.
    • Some thoughts after the 1st 9 holes of the year. The driver was pretty good, nothing crazy. My miss seems to be just a push. The start line is a bit too far right for my taste, but they are drawing back at least. Hitting middle-ish of the face to slightly toe. Part of the right miss is a bit of open face and off the toe slightly.  Irons, some really good strikes, others were not so good. I am feeling a few things, when I am being mindful of the swing I made.  1) Got to get the pause down again, and keep things shorter (as usual). One of the best iron shots was when I tried to mimic Rahm's swing length, lol. I caught a flier and hit an 8-iron like 190 yards into an area of no return for that golf ball. The swing felt great 😉  2) I got to stay taller in transition, feel like I gain tons of space between my hands and my chest. The bad swing is the old swing, bad right elbow, tilt to lower the club. This was too much shallowing, and hitting the ball fat. I just think of it this way, you are bent over, and you can reach the ball at address. So, you can reach the ball at impact by getting your hands down.  3) The final thing is the timing. It might take some time to get some flow into the swing. Timing up hands down and the turn is a bit off. Focusing on the hands down kind of stalls everything for me, at least it feels like my hips do not turn. I end up hitting a decent strike, just feels meh athletically, lol.  Short game was Ok, which means pretty good for not practicing it. Not short, but not round destroying.  Putting, doing much better now that I quickened up my routine. Line up, looking at my target. Glance down at the ball to get into my stance. Glance up at my target spot again, then hit the ball with in like 1-2 seconds after looking back down at the ball. Trying not to get to static over the ball while putting.
    • Oh I'm dumb, I just noticed I did the MyStrategy from the wrong tee box. I don't think it changes anything, though. I'll play it as a three shot hole and I still don't really want to miss right (guy I played with on Sunday never found his ball he hit just over the trees right). I think the trees left are considered part of the environmentally sensitive area because it's part of the drainage area for the course. I actually like this hole a lot. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time. I probably overestimated the wind speed. We had sustained winds of like 12-15mph with gusts up to 25mph. The wind is actually forecast to be WNW on Saturday instead of WSW like was when I played on Sunday so if I play this hole again the wind will be pushing towards that bunker. Similar speeds, though. Wind is always a factor at this course because there's really nothing blocking it. I'm definitely going to have to pay attention to it, especially with the wind. I hit a handful of short iron approaches a lot farther than I thought I would on Sunday. As of right now the only thing I know for sure is I'm starting on Ridge. I don't know if the back 9 will be played on Meadow or Lake.
