kicked out of golf club

hi i  reccently had a call off the md of my golf course saying he had recived complaint about me and wished to talk to me i am meeting him on saturday. is it possible for me to be kicked out of my golf club ps i havent been cheating i sometimes lose my temper on the golf course and throw my clubs think this is what he wants to talk about. any help will be appreciated

You throw clubs at a private club?

I sometimes toss mine 5 yards for humor at one of the crappy courses I play, but I couldn't imagine chucking clubs seriously, especially at a private course.

Sure it's possible. Most private clubs have a standard of conduct that members (and their guests) are expected to maintain. Generally, I'd expect that you would receive a warning before actually being asked to leave though.....unless there was an exceptionally egregious incident.

Better learn to manage your temper.  Not much else to say.  Nobody has the right to throw temper tantrums on the course.  Time to grow up.

I agree, i use to be a club thrower, now i don't anymore. I play much better when i am not pissed. But you could be kicked off for that conduct. Private courses hold themselves to a higher standard than public courses, especially the conduct of there members. Unless your fricken loaded, and made hefty contributions to the club, then money talks. :p

Hopefully its a warning, i would seriously consider cooling down the temper.

Depends on who saw you and how many complaints were made about you.  I'd guess you will get a harsh warning, maybe even have your privileges suspended for a few weeks but doubt you'd get kicked out if this is the first time you've had any issues at the club.

Interesting concept, is there a "good enough" to justify throwing clubs? Getting upset over a bad shot isn't reserved for only the best golfers. When I was younger I threw my clubs quite a bit, I did toss my driver once this year, but after not playing for 3 yrs I had unrealistic expectations of how I would play. Now I know it's going to take awhile and accept the bad shots.

Well, for your sake, I hope it is just a warning and you realize the seriousness of it.  If they suspend your privileges, don't be a jerk about it.  Take the punishment like a man and realize that you are wrong in what you have been doing.  Be cordial in the discussion and make apologies for your actions.  Most of all, learn from this.

If you were playing golf in my golf league, you would be warned first time and would be required to play with an officer in the next few rounds.  If you did it again, priviliges would be suspended.  3rd time, you would not be back.

Get control of yourself before you hurt yourself or someone else by throwing clubs.

Agree with this.  Once you're in a private club it's tough to kick people out.  If they did, it would be after a certain number of suspensions and would have to go to a vote of the membership or BoD.  They also don't want to lose the revenue.

Only players who are playing for big money can justify throwing clubs in my opinion (and only under special circumstances).

Under special circumstances?? There is never a reason to throw a club intentionally. It just shows that you are a basket case who can't control their temper. I don't care if its rec golf or the PGA Tour. No person should throw a club in frustration of a shot. Its dangerous, and makes you look like a ****ing idiot.

I know there's a reason for this, but it's crappy that it has to be.

I try to hold 'myself' to certain standards.  Then I don't have to care if I'm playing in a private club or public.  (or out for dinner, or at work, or at play, etc etc)

too bad people don't do that in general, then clubs and other places wouldn't have to have rules to try and get grownups to act like grownups.  Heck, once they start doing that, then behavior codes get weird and eventually dress codes get stupid and people start to worry about what kind of watch your wear and if your spats are shined correctly, or if your pockets are streamlined or puffy, and all sorts of silly stuff.

to the OP, seriously, frustration is natural, but it's time to grow up and learn to deal with it positively.

Throwing clubs is never the answer. A swear or a curse (keep in mind ladies and juniors are on the course) maybe.

My playing partner yesterday tried to throw his driver, but I forcefully stopped him and reminded him of the occasion (God knows how many awful shots I hit yesterday, but made a few good ones too).

I hope you are seriously warned and more importantly, given an opportunity to make amends (agreeing to a lesson or two at full price helps salve the breach of etiquette in my view).
