Wooooooo! I'm so excited! As you can see, I play for a team that wears blue and white, so I went half insane when I saw these on eBay... Gottem for $750 gently used. Woulda been close to $2500 new!

Sorry golfers, I love ya, but I'll always be a hockey player :)

Hehehe... I will never cease to be amused by very young children in goaltending equipment that looks like they have three other children strapped to their body. And all the while defending about 20% of a 24 square foot net.

I'd come at you hard from the left dip right with a crossover while toe-dragging the puck left to right and at the last second saucer pass over your stick to my backhand and fire a 70mph backhand straight to the peanut butter and you'd put your new pads on ebay the next day because you peed them.

I played in the net for a few years with a rec. group.  I was around 19-22 years old.  I had always skated, but I was not getting any faster and most of the guys could beat me to the puck out of a scrum.  I realized I could make more of a difference and be more involved while playing goalie.  I definitely had more fun.

I think everybody should have to play goalie at least 1 or 2 games.  It would help them understand what really helps the goalie, and more importantly, what does not help.

Oh and I'd do it wearing a cowboy hat!!

We actually have a ton of ice in Houston.  Nothing like the NE, but we have 6+ in the Houston area.  Including one inside the Galleria (playing inside a mall is fun).

As far as the recipe for ice... we're still working on that.  To date we've tried 1 part crude oil 2 parts land, 1 part crude 3 parts cow, and 3 parts crude 1 part wait.  None of it ever worked so we just hired some folks from Canada.

Icebergs, nice, always loved that graphic, even better in UMaine colors.I had a T-5500 Jimmy Howard spec glove that was a vaccuum cleaner , best glove I ever had. I only started to play golf because my knee injury forced me out of playing between the pipes.

Ahhh yes, those are Maine colors! I knew there was something out there that those pads made sense for. but they'll also make good "Ice Boltz" pads when I get them

Still waiting... hopefully early next week!

    • Good luck! Let's ping each other by the end of the year again. I see that you that you also worked on your putting and short game. Good to have stretch-goals.  My golf coach guides me. Before I met him I practiced my iron game so much and completely neglected putting over that period. Genuinely, my iron game is quite accurate and the iron (short, long) distances I shoot are above average. However, I often end up doing 3-4 putts and my driver shot goes barely over 200 yards and is not accurate either. If I can shave some off those putts that could be 5-7 strokes right there.
    • Ugh. And I thought I was having a bad year.
    • That's a lot of clubface rotation (and not much body rotation) through the shot. Tends to lead to…
    • You need to do this: Weight very much in the heels. That's a big part of what causes that extension.
    • Day 423 - February 24, 2021 Good long two+ hour session today. Focused on making the right sized backswing - not too small, not too long. Arms lift up in front of me, but not very far. I hit some 8I, then some 6I. I finished up with a 3I and really tried to feel that my setup was not getting too far forward.
