Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on Z.  I couldn't agree more that she is a beautiful girl trying to make a name in golf fashion.  I'm just not sure she is a great designer of clothing.  I've never seen those outfits on the course or anywhere else. I think she looks better in regular clothes.  Of course this kind of thing is subjective and maybe many think those are good outfits.  But I think they are WAY over the top.  Actually kind of awkward.  But she is a cute girl with a good personality and has a good game of golf.

I'll agree that she doesn't wear traditional golf attire and I wouldn't want to see many of the LPGA tour members in her clothes but she pulls them off quite nicely.  I think she's going for a LoudMouth for athletic girls.

Yeah, I'd kind of prefer that she just wear normal cute girl golf clothes, because hers are a little over the top.  There aren't many (if any) women out there now, besides her, that have the body for that type of clothing.  If she is designing them to sell, I think she is going to have a bad time, because I think her market is just her.  But if she just designs them for herself for fun, then good for her.  She looks good. ;)

Info - Taylor Collins is playing this weekend in the Lorena Ochoa thing.  Have any of the winners of the show made the cut in the tournament they were awarded?

I wonder if the pros think it's a good thing or if they resent having one less slot at these events (I suspect it's a mix of opinions but mostly supportive....)

I suspect the top pros are indifferent and the borderline players hate losing a spot to a "game show contestant".

I really like Isaac Sanchez and hope Team Rice wins although with Emily having the putting yips, I'm not sure if that team can overcome it having one loss already.

However, if Sanchez doesn't win, I'll root for Team Rypien since I've become a fan of James Lepp even though I'm not a big fan of Meghan Hardin.

Isaac has had minimal air time this season.  My favorites are Lepp and Emily.  So I'd like either of those teams to get far.

A comment in support of the BB contestants. Over the years they have received a lot of criticism for their poor play which I believe is somewhat unfair. Given the nature of the show the golfers are never in a groove nor can they ever get properly warmed up. Then, under extreme pressure, the need to pull off great shots. The stakes for them are extremely high. Nothing like we might feel even at a club championship. Their potential livelihood is on the line. Every past contestant says the pressure is unlike any other they have experienced in golf. So, despite what sometimes looks like poor play, I think they do a commendable job under very difficult circumstances.

So do I...Especially since most of them are not very good at golf and are on the show because of their looks or semi-weird personality.

BB is no more critical to the contestants livelihood than someone appearing on The Price Is Right. If they weren't striving to be pro golfers they would have to do something. It's admirable you've chosen to stand up for them but honestly for most their dreams of pro golf are no closer to reality than the 13 yr old kids that start threads about it here.

I'm not sure.  If it's anything like the PGA tour, I believe that "Sponsors Exemptions" are stand alone spots that don't really affect the regular players at all.  Patrick Cantlay's (or whoever) ability to enter the tournament as the 150th ranked player is not dependent on whether or not they want to invite John Daly, the 14 year old Chinese kid, or Annika Sorenstam. .... I think.

I I can't imagine that there is a hard and fast cap on the regular season tournaments.  "We have room for 124 players, but 125?  Sorry, the boat would sink."

While I'm sure that they do better in those circumstances than I myself likely would, I still feel like adding one thing to this.

If you want to be a professional golfer, there is a requirement to be able to play well under pressure. There is not a single guy out there on tour who doesn't have some way of handling the pressure of playing for their job. If these guys can't pull it off for a TV show where the prize is much less (one sponsors exemption and enough cash to get them through one year on the mini-tours), then how do you expect them to pull it off when you put a million dollars on the line?

While they may be talented golfers, I tend to agree that their chances are fairly low when it comes to making the tour and getting their card. They get exempted into one PGA tournament and, unless they win it (which they would do by handling the pressure well, and playing nearly just as good if not better with than without it), that doesn't mean they're ever going to be in another one again.

Every week I watch this show I feel like I'm only watching to see what Mallory and Emily are going to wear......... Jeeeeeeeeesus! I don't really dissect the show too much given the fact that's what it is, a show. It's entertainment and for those of us that live in Canada this is the closest thing to golf we get in November.

Hard to imagine they're under more pressure than the average player who went through Q school (particularly a somewhat older one with a family and mortgage to worry about) or the 126th-ranked player in danger of missing the cut with only a few holes to go on Friday of the last tournament of the year. Now Brian, he's got a different situation than everyone else, with his team captain, Chris Doleman, seemingly trying his best to be one of the biggest jerks in reality show history. The couple of times I've had something negative happen to me (beyond my frequent wildly inconsistent play) on a golf course that really pissed me off, I did not play well. It's got to be hard to focus when your team leader thinks you're a POS, you actively despise each other, and you know he's going to put 100% of the blame on you if your game falls below 100%. I commend Brian for rising to the occasion on the several episodes of this season that I've seen, given the pressure and animosity. Of course, he may well have been a choking prima donna in prior episodes I didn't see - feel free to set the record straight.

In my bag: - Ping G20 driver, 10.5 deg. S flex - Ping G20 3W, 15 deg., S flex - Nickent 4dx 3H, 4H - Nike Slingshot 4-PW - Adams Tom Watson 52 deg. GW - Vokey 58 deg. SW -Ping Half Wack-E putter

I think there is a slightly different skill set both physically and mentally between playing tournament golf and the single shot challenges in a BB type format. Players might feel more pressure if they are not comfortable with that format.

Personally, I would be much better at single shot type challenges than I would at complete round golf (probably the opposite of many golfers) and would feel much less pressure in a BB format. Basically I'm pretty good at pulling off single shots and especially trouble situation and short game shots but I suck at golf in general.

I agree with that, based on what I've read and interviews, the Big Breakers spend a lot of time waiting around for the cameras to get in place, etc. which has to have the "ice the kicker" effect on a golfer.

Absolutely loved in the elimination match when Shannon Fish said, with respect to Meghan Hardin , "I knew I was going to get it up and down and she wasn't."

Fish > Hardin.

That being said, from what I've learned of Shannon Fish, don't think I'd like her very much.

Still loves me some Sasquatch!

Have to agree with you on Shannon, although she's been pretty solid when they've needed her. Doleman was a mess yesterday, maybe now he'll just shut up (doubt it though). Hard to believe they're still undefeated with all the drama.

    • Thank you, currently I only had the 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 irons in the bag. I was never finding myself in a situation to use the 4 and 5 so I dropped those a while ago. The 60W is what I've been practicing with the most in the back yard, but that's only with short chipping. I don't think I've ever practiced hitting my wedges at 80% - 100% apart from yesterday. Maybe I should be doing that more. Generally I would be using a 9 iron if I was out about 75 yards or so. I am not really sure I understand your mention of the 60W and 3H. Aren't these going to be giving me completely different results? Unfortunately I am not able to adjust the loft on the hybrids I have. I looked into the Shot Scope H4 you suggested and this seems really neat and handy, however I am struggling to understand how it works. Am I correct in assuming it doesn't track the ball distance until you hit the ball a second time? Say I drive from the tee and walk up to my ball, tag the next club and hit the ball. Is it at this point when I tag my next club while standing next to my ball that is knows the distance? Thank you, I am going to give the local shop a call and check their prices and see what they can offer.
    • Do you know what their handicaps are? The handicap system isn't perfect and given the higher variance from higher handicaps, I think low handicap players would be expected to win maybe 60% of their matches? I'm not exactly sure what that number is and it will vary with the handicap difference, but if they're generally very low handicaps, then they might be at 60% likely to win a game. Given it's 16 vs 16, that's a lot of games to win. If it's 60%, then that's around an 80% chance that they'll win a given match. At 80% chance of winning, 21 wins in a row is about 1 in 108 times. Pretty unlikely, but not unheard of. It's pretty sensitive to what that individual win percentage is too. If it's 65%, then 21 wins is about 1 in 9. If it's 55%, then 21 wins is 1 in about 5,700. Clearly it's not as simple as this because that win likelihood is going to change match to match as they play lower handicap teams or higher handicap teams, but I don't think it's a "yes they're cheating" thing at all.
    • I'll be honest, the only reason the 2 iron was in my bag is because I tend to hit the ball into the tree's fairly often. And I was using it to help me keep the ball very low to get out of the tree's while avoiding getting much loft to hit branches. I guess I can drop the 3H as well. Would it be wise to give a higher loft fairway wood a try as well, something like a 26 degree? I believe there is only one golf shop where I live that has a golf simulator and trainer. I see they offer free fitting with a purchase from the fitter. I'll have to check how much they charge without a purchase, I've read a few stories about fitters on this forum that just wanted to sell the person the most expensive clubs and that kind of deters me a bit. They do offer lessons as well. I'll give them a call and ask them a bit more about these services. Thank you!
    • Here is a description of all the programs:  Programs & Training Programs and Training TheStack is a personal swing-speed trainer for golfers. Initially, each golfer is piloted through a series of swing speed tests to generate a force-velocity profile of their current swing. Qualitative data is... I think cruiser is meant for maintaining speed and flex can do more than that. But I'm just basing that on the descriptions that I linked.
    • Both @DaveP043 and I play in our interclub matches every year, and have been team Captains as well.  There are always a few courses, mine is one, that win a lot of matches (we've won twice in the last 7 years), and we've been labeled as sandbaggers.  However, I really think that our course was rated too low (our greens just never seemed to get factored in enough), and thus our Handicaps were always a stroke or maybe 2 above, what they would've been if the course was rated higher.  And then when we went and played other courses, their slope and rating were much higher than ours, and sometimes I would get a 2 or 3 stroke bump on top of that.  It was definitely an advantage.  However, this past year, our course was rated again and the slope has gone up, so we'll see if we continue to have the same benefit.  Season starts this Sunday for us.
