I'm more curious about how Norman will do. Talk about no filter. We're sure to hear some hot sports opinions from him. Should be interesting.

I don't mind Buck. He's a good announcer. I'm worried about them using Gus Johnson. I'll be begging for Chris Berman if they bring him in to do the Thursday/Friday coverage.

But I will miss Hicks/Miller and the NBC team. I think they're the best golf team out there hands down. It's a shame but nowadays you go where the money goes.

You've got that right. It's all about the money.  I wonder if Johnny Miller will get picked up anywhere?  I know a lot of people hate him, but I think he's great for the game.

He's a straight shooter and calls it as it is, which a lot of people don't like. I think he'll stay at NBC.

Yea, I'm sure he will too.  I can't wait to see those ridiculously stupid Fox Sports animations. Let's watch this big, clunky robot hit a golf ball!!! Sweet Geezus.

C'mon, Buck is the premier announcer of this generation. I have no doubt he'll adapt well to golf. I know he'll put in the work.

Good interview with Johnny Miller coming out of the booth after final US Open broadcast yesterday. You can tell how much this championship meant to him.

Joe Buck sucks

Yup. Glad I'm fan of an AFC team so I don't have to hear that every other week.

Unfortunately Joe Buck calls the niners games every damn week.

I'm not a big fan of Joe and Troy announcing football games.

Or watching him work with McCarver calling baseball games.

But, being from St Lou, I grew up with Jack as the Cardinals announcer.

Jack was one of the greatest of all times, so St Louisian's accepted Joe as Jack's son.

Joe grew up spending most of his summers hanging out @ Old Warson CC and became a ve ry good golfer and knows golf.

I think he would be very entertaining as a golf announcer pending on who shares the booth with him.

Heaven forbid, they team him up with Randolph......

They are saying Joe Buck and Greg Norman are calling the shots next year. Joe Buck? Really?

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"

Lol. The diversity of opinion on every topic really amazes me. Buck to me is a solid announcer, never been any controversy around him yet haters abound. I don't think we could get a consensus on anyone. That's what makes the world go round, I guess. But, I sure think the world would be a much better place if everyone just agreed with me. ;)

Looks like FOX has it's broadcast team for the U.S. Open.  I like Buck in other sports but not sure if he has a "golf" voice.  Norman never seems to like a shot he didn't hit, so that should be interesting.

Quote:

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Greg Norman and Joe Buck will call the U.S. Open when it moves to Fox next year.

The network signed a 12-year rights deal with the U.S. Golf Association in August to air the Open and its other championships. Fox said Wednesday that two-time British Open champion Norman would join Buck on its lead golf announcing team.

Buck is already Fox's top play-by-play voice for its NFL and Major League Baseball coverage. An avid golfer, he currently plays at a 3 handicap.

NBC's last U.S. Open will be at Pinehurst No. 2 in June.

I really like Buck on baseball, although most other serious seamheads don't. I think that might be due to his association with Tim McCarver, who was absolutely terrible during the final years of that pairing. I think he'll be fine.

Norman could simply be Johnny Miller with an Aussie accent.

I am not looking forward to Joe Buck.  I dislike his announcing style. I will give Norman the benefit of the doubt because I have not heard him announce.  He certainly is knowledgeable.

I think Norman will be interesting.  I like how Norman is on Big Break but he seems very critical of other pro's, especially Tiger.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
    • They've been chuckling since they hooked the shark. I think Greg doesn't realize the jokes on him.
