Day 1 of rebuilding my swing. I've been having shoulder pains with my longer swing the last few weeks, along with the shanks and killer open faced slices. the First thing I noticed in my drive with a shorter swing was a loss of distance. a good 20 and at times 40 meters of less carry. I had been carrying 250+ meters (275 yards) on the low end. my longest carries today maxed at 250 - nothing passed it. However, I hit more straight on a rope drives then I can remember in a long time. is there anyway to add more power to a shorter swing? I'm working on proper weight transfer too. I noticed lately even in my backswing with hips and shoulders fully rotated, I was leaving lots of weight on my left foot. I was pushing on my left to create my turn. I was still shanking the ball some with my irons it took a good 150 balls to start making solid contact with them with this new swing. it was hard to think about not overturning, shortening my backswing, proper weight transfer, swing, release, follow thru. its hard taking on a new swing for me - practice I guess. Now I noticed if I delofted the irom some and not focus on my release I'd hit some decent shots. is this cheating myself. should I worry on creating better release or keep going with that fix. what kind of drills can I do for a better release and squared hit? thanks all btw, it really helped not straining my shoulder. I've been scared I was going to have to shut it down
