How's it going guys?  Is this great golf or what.  i'm watching here in Asia where some sterilized broadcast is flipping between groups with hardly any good graphics or commentary. No course layouts or hole pix, or talk of the sweaty synthetic, but so pretty,  shirts on Woods, Phil and other USA guys. Sure, some casual golf shots, which like you and I at the practice range are Terrific shots but where is the competition and personal pride i was led to believe would be on display? OK, better than tennis or motorcars going round and round but me, I'd out to the course myself for a great 18.

Are you joking? Today was incredibly competitive and dare I say intense. Especially the back 9.

I watched the repeat on TGC, and it was good!!!!   and i seriously giggled a bit when DL3 had Sammy the Squirrel in his lap, and then at the end had him in his pocket, and Tiger Woods gets pranked with Sammy the Squirrel...

It is what it is

Watched the coverage on Skysports last night and think it's one of the best day's action of Golf i've seen for a while. Some insanely good shots from both teams!

The best shot for me was De Laet's tee shot on 16th I think, where he just lobs it within a couple of feet.. awesome.

Half the time I look at the scoreboard it screws things up. Look at this:

I think they're using JavaScript and it sometimes doesn't fully load or something.

That's no ordinary squirrel.  Just in case they need it on the last hole!

Enjoyed watching the matches today.  Phil and Keegan are a lot of fun to watch, you can tell they really enjoy golfing together.

Interesting to see Phil with the SLDR driver.  The sole is blacked out.  Tiger's swinging really good, nice to see.

I think Price needs to split Grace and Sterne they are rudderless out there. Beat downs aren't interesting. A few are struggling on the US side too.

One of the differences between Prez Cup and Ryder Cup, everyone plays so you can't "hide" a player that is struggling.

The November skins games were more thrilling than this stuff. Ryder Cup has no money on offer for the 'athletes', rather like college football.  What about the Prez Cup?  Any money for winning?  If not, we need to question what these guys are doing, and why.  To me, it's all hype, branding and marketing; no real sport.  These guys are professionals, not amateurs, and are motivated, driven and measured by $$$$$$$$.

Disagree. Most of the big names on tour care about winning. When they get 2nd, they aren't as concerned about taking 1/2 million less as they are about not placing first. You think Tiger would play majors if they were for free? Oh course he would. Then you mention your watching Pigskins for this reason? Pretty sure those guys are under contract, winning / losing isn't directly affecting their paycheck. (Given a lot of winning / losing might, but not quite as dramatic as golf to say the least)

Sterne is getting a "rest' this afternoon. Sadly, he and Grace will be the SA team in the World Cup of Golf event next month. I can certainly think of another pairing I would prefer!

Are they trying to show as few shots of Woods/Kuchar and Scott/Matsuyama as possible? This match would have been cool to watch, but I did not see more than 5 full shots in the last two hours...

Ah, there we go. Great second into the 15th by Woods.

Gee, I wonder who Watson is going to team Tiger up with next year?

another US vs whoever competition event... and once again the US getting SPANKED on the greens. What a joke. Ryder Cup last year, Solheim Cup, and Presidents Cup. Why can't the US sink some effing putts?

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
