What are you working on, @RFKFREAK?

Keeping my hands high and wide on the backswing.  Overdrew the ball a ton in today's session.

Less golf, more poker!!! Or be like me, do a lot of both!

Haven’t been around much but glad to see your still working on the swing. I need to get some video and update my thread.

I wish!  You guys only play once a month and did I see correctly, you might go back to offline?

Let's see what your swing looks like.  You're retired, right?  Are you not finding enough time to practice and play?

Murderous round today - shot a 113.

Full swing was a disaster as I was hooking pretty much everything left and when I didn't, my contact was bad, either toeing the ball or hoseling it putting people lives in danger...twice.  9 penalty strokes and 3 alone on the second hole.   Best hole was 18 where I finally got a GIR and made my only par.

Were your feet aligned to the right?

Think about the ball flight laws. I understand how if the ball feels like it's going left, it feels like you should aim more right, but then that makes the ball go MORE left and hook MORE…

I was conscious about where my feet were and noticed on a few divots that my clubface at the bottom of the swing was closed to the target line.  I honestly think my mechanics were sloppy because I was tired.  I have not been getting much sleep the last few night, including last night, trained before going out to play, and walked the course on a hot humid day.

Okay. Feet left if anything, face a little right (so the ball has room to draw) if anything.

I'm planning on getting a few range sessions this week so I can get a sense if today was an anomaly or an issue that I have fix.

Putting was better, though

Brutal day shooting a 113 yesterday filled with lots of inconsistent contact and pulls so back at it today.  Earlier videos in this session I noticed (as @iacas had pointed out to me a few days ago) that I have been hitting the ball on the toe of the clubface so, these are my last two swings of the session with my 6I where I worked on redirecting my path a little more outward with my arms and started making some solid contact.  Pulled very few today so there was that bonus.  Planning on working on hitting it in the center of the clubface more tomorrow.

So, @iacashad pointed out to me that I have been hitting the ball off the toe and to concentrate on hitting it it in the center of the face more often.  I was under the impression that many of the mishits were obscenely fat but I'm starting to think that, based on video that I've take, that my clubface get out of control and picks up a lot of Mother Earth b/c of the strike being on the extreme part of the toe.  Case in point:

I know I'm preaching to the choir, though, as to the importance of taking video, because, as we all know, feel ain't real.

I've rarely practice with my 3W but thought I'd give it a shot and really felt good about hitting in off the face a lot more consistently than I ever have in a practice session.  Ball flight it a little lower than I'd like but contact is definitely a lot more off the center than it ever has been.

Hit some balls and finished up with 3W.  Contact was pretty uneven, so with my last ball decided to record my swing and ofc, I hit it solid, just with a low ball flight.  Thinking maybe it's ball position, maybe a bit more forward.  Should have gotten a FO.

Try different positions and face angles. I play it off my left heel with an open face. For my swing, it’s a push draw that goes where the face was pointed, not my toe line, and will go higher. You need to play around and see what’s best for you.

Yeah, i think one session with just my 3W would probably help more than 4-5 swings in one session 😂

When I practice general ballstriking, all I use is my driver, 3w, and driving iron.

I typically use my 6I! and then a few swings using whatever club i also want to get a feel for.

First range session after another productive session with @iacas.  Working on getting my weight forward and also feel like my front forearm is turning to close the clubface.  Did work with my 6I, Driver, 3W, and 4H and hit all clubs really well with ball flights that overall I wasn't unhappy with.  Playing tomorrow and Wednesday so we'll see how we do.

    • That's why I've got Nickent 3DX Hybrid irons, I have a 10 iron which works for me. Most sets of irons have 8" or more of loft gap between the 9 and the wedge, it's ok if your good enough to hit a half'ish or climb into the Sandiron but I'm not. I'm not too bad hitting a strong 9 8 7 etc but the wedges I'm more likely to hit skinny or fat, I think why there is so many wedges is all about the Money...

    • Day 202.  This evening, I spent ten minutes hitting balls.  I noticed my rehearsal swings weren't getting to where I expected and that my front arm was folding almost at setup.  I wonder if this was the issue yesterday?  I will have to pay more attention going forward.  By the way, I say "the issue yesterday" as if I hit the ball horribly.  Other than the first shot O.B. (which was also my first shot of the day -- range was closed), I played quite well, beating the 10 handicap mark on strokes gained by nearly a full stroke, and if we ignore the opening O.B. (which I maintain wouldn't have happened if I had been able to hit a few balls to warm up -- yes, it still counts of course), I'm under my handicap in SG:D for the day, too.
