@iacas i could not stand Erin Brockocich. I will say I have not revisted in a very long time.

I tried to watch American Made on multiple occasions it just never stuck for me.

To stay on topic I did wach The Equalizer 2. Missed birdie attempt. The first was an easy tap in birdie. Denzel makes 2 a par at best.

Widows. Birdie. Never saw the show or read the book, but it's McQueen and Viola Davis, that's all I needed to know. Didn't go in for a heist movie, and the twist and turns were tight enough to hold during the movie but frays when you have time to think about it but that didn't bother me was there more for McQueen's direction and the storytelling, co-written by Gillian Flynn who wrote Gone Girl. Did not realize so many other familiar actors were in it. There were a couple of amazing sequences and shots and the movie imho did a good job of fleshing out the characters.

Roma. Birdie. There's no plot, there's kind of an arc, it's sort of a pov, slice of life, epic/intimate scope of a family's maid who is much more than that, shot in stark black and white 4K, without much editing as far as I can tell, this movie is deeply moving and thought provoking.

Rewatched Game Night. Sooooo funny. Will probably go down as one of my favorite recent comedies.

Ralph Breaks the Internet:

I give it a birdie. Good story, entertaining how they represented different internet components as actual characters. Kept my 12 and 8 yr old boys watching.

Incredibles 2 - Par. It was good and had fun parts, but was a bit predictable.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

I was pleasantly surprised.   I liked the story line and the way it tied into the Harry Potter series.   Ya, it's a build up to the rest of the story but honestly, I was impressed.    I thought the acting was very good, the CG was very good and it is always interesting to see what's new in the suitcase.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs - birdie. I wasn't so keen on the format. Six short stories. I liked most of them, except for one I was lukewarm about. This is not farcical Coen Brothers, there is some, but he tone is more storyteller.

Here is what they based the fifth story on:

I'd forgotten how bad Knight and Day (Double Bogey) was, until about 30 minutes in. Decent (unbelievable, but aren't they all?) action sequences, nothing else.

Tomb Raider. Out on HBO now, this 2018 reboot of the classic made famous by Angelina Jolie stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.  The movie brings us back in time to when her father disappears and she becomes the Tomb Raider.  Interesting to get the perspective of her early years, and the movie is a lot of fun, but it lacks the humor, hotness and confidence of the Angelina versions. I'm looking forward to the second installment because I think it has potential.  Birdie putt, but lip out par.

Tomb Raider, I give a par to as well, with much of the same logic/reasoning as you've given.

I missed the humor, but as origin stories go, it's pretty good. I liked that the Lara Croft in this one (Alicia Vikander) wasn't the teen boy fantasy type like Angelina was, with the outrageous outfits and breasts, but was still a smart, badasses heroine.

I'd recorded it a few days ago, and watched it yesterday and today.

The Mountain Between Us, Bogey. Idris and Kate have basically ZERO chemistry, and some of the mountain sequences are just a joke. The dog never stopped being peppy, despite going without food for quite some time, and didn't even appear to lose weight.

The mountain lion was dead after being shot in the face with a flare gun? Why? How?

Meh. Dumb.

Wow....I gotta second this. Exactly how I felt about this movie except I’d call it a DB.

Mowgli.  Par. I really dig the performance from the child lead.  I’m also a huge fan of Andy Serkis (director and the voice of Baloo), but this one rang a little hollow overall.  It tries to be a little darker than most of the other Jungle Book movies.

I get why this went to Netflix instead of hitting the theatres.   This one might have been a tougher sell to kids.

The Favourite - birdie. This looks like a boring period piece from the visuals but this movie was so funny. For me, there were three bust a gut scenes but some might not agree with the director's type of deadpan humor. Weisz and Stone and Colman are amazing in their roles. Kind of want to watch this again.

This was my take as well.   I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and understand why it went to Netflix.   The lead actor was very good.   I give it a Par.

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
