The Grandmaster Saw this earlier in the year, but it's available on iTunes now and will watch it again tonight. This movie defies categorization. It looks like an action movie, but it's more an

Glengarry Glen Ross trailer done in the style of Wolf of Wall Street

Was that your first time watching it?  I recently saw it for the first time, and thought it was pretty good as well.  What accents? ;-)

The same kind as when you watch The Departed.

Yeah, first time. Holds up really well for 1996.

Fight Club is one of the few movies I saw more than once in the theatre. Loved it.

I'm halfway through the second Hobbit movie. I'm not really enjoying it so far.

The Hobbit movies are weak, I agree. Bogey with a 15 foot putt to save... LOTR are birdies, BTW.

The Hobbit movies aren't terrible, just overly long and drawn out.  Although I loved the bit with the dragon and the dwarves.  Tauriel?  Legolas?  You're grasping, PJ.

Stepbrothers was added to Netflix Canada recently.  Some parts of that movie still make me giggle as much as the first time I saw it.  Easy birdie for me.

I thought they were alright if you don't compare them to lotr which is hard not to. I find they try to be too funny

The funny thing about The Departed is all the leads trying to do a Boston accent and you had JN talking like...JN.

Jack used a Boston accent in Departed. A bad one, but he used it. Who cares though! He's Jack Nicholson! Great in pretty much everything. I watched the Shining the other day, and the scene where he talks to Lloyd the bartender the first time is absolutely outstanding. One of my favorite little scenes in all of cinema. I love how he delivers each line.

This scene plays better within the flow of the movie. Still love it though.

Worst Boston accents in a movie were Diane Lane and Mark Wahlberg in the Perfect Storm .  Christ Markie Mark, your from Dorchester!  At least Diane had an excuse.

Never saw "The Shining" all the way through yet. Though I really liked the "Departed". I am ok with Jack as an actor, I think he's a bit strong handed from time to time. To me his best roll was in "As Good as it Gets".

"The Shining" is a GREAT movie! Strong handed is kinda Jack's calling card! He made "ham fisted" cool.

Sorry, but this is a hilarious statement.  I know it's an opinion, but if you thing his best role is in "As Good as it Gets", you need an education in Jack Nicholson.  Decent movie, but light years away from his best performance.

Every single one of these is better than "As Good as it Gets"::

Five Easy Pieces

One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest

East Rider

The Shining

The Last Detail

Prizzi's Honor

Chinatown

Terms of Endearment

Batman

About Schmidt

The Passenger

The Pledge

The Crossing Guard

Those are just off the top of my head.

Well, since I have seen ONE of those movies, of course I would think his best would be the ones I have seen him in. Kinda makes sense right? ;-)

Like I said, I am not a big Jack Nicholson fan.

    • Unforgiven Anybody don’t wanna get killed, better go on out the back.    Deserves ain’t got nuthin’ to do with it.    Hell of a thing, killin’ a man. Take away everything’s he’s got. Everything he ever will have.
    • Day 9.  Spent a fifteen minute break earlier today hitting 8-iron and 6-iron full swings, off a mat, into a net, real balls, indoors.  Hit about as many balls, careful to make sure I am at practice pace.
    • Day 443: Did some backswing/takeaway drills (COVID-19 day-3 and something I found on AMG YouTube). Then some COVID-19 day-5 drills. Then some full swing balls with 9-iron and 3-hybrid.
    • Thanks for your reply. To elaborate  I use the GPS on the watch to conserve the iPhone battery. What I don’t understand is why it only used 1% on Friday but 21% today with the same settings.  When I raise my wrist to look at the watch, the grint is nearly always open, when  I used Golfshot it was always on the home screen with similar settings.  I had to keep pressing the button on the watch to get back to golfshot.
    • I’ve used Golfshot in the past. 18Birdies has a watch app that I used a couple times.  GameGolf has one. There are others, I’m sure.  I currently use the watch app for Arccos, because I use that tracking system. Not sure about the “disappeared off the watch” problem.  I don’t recall doing anything special for setup, but whenever I raise my wrist with a round going, it’s got my yardage right there (Arccos and Golfshot for sure, I think it did with GameGolf, don’t remember with 18Birdies). Maybe try (in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone): General > wake screen > wake on wrist raise (and) Return to clock after 1 hour.  I don’t know of a way to improve battery life in the watch, but I usually put my iPhone in low power mode when I play, and that helps prolong the iPhone battery without adversely affecting the golf app function.  But using 21% of battery for a round doesn’t seem excessive (meaning you finished the round with 79% left).
