So i just got a job at a local golf shop and the Callaway rep's were in today showing us the new Big Bertha Line of drivers and 3 woods.... all i can say is wow..

The look is great sleek, the bottom is red and Blue and looks great

the feel, I cant believe how light this club is for having the choices for changing the weights for a draw or fade type of shot. The club just flows through the swing with no effort. right away I'm smashing the ball and it comes of very hot, better than my Xhot club. the miss hits didnt feel bad at all.

And the other driver was called the Big Bertha alpha.. it has a weight that can be flipped over to help reduce spin. this driver felt really nice too.

All i can say is once this club hits the market, i think I'm going to have to trade up.

take a look at the club here.

So it looks like that is the sldr's competition? That would make since with Phil hitting the sldr and Callaway was saying that they had something similar in the works.

Will have to check them out.

I hope they looked better in person than they do in the photos Cally's released so far. Looks aren't everything, performance is what counts, but those don't look like clubs that would appeal to my eye.

Completely agree Russtopher. From what I've seen the X 2 Hot looks much better. Any idea when the Bertha is getting released?

O.K...I just took a gander at the club. Have to say, I'm Not a big fan of having screws all over any club, so that would be a deal breaker for me, I do however like the looks of the club.

Progress..........hum bug..

I will say that the pictures on the web do this club no justice.. it looks great, a nice deep blue and red on the bottom.. The slider is easy to move. on the machine.. I bet i had about 10  more yrds than my razr Extreme.

So that is the Big Bertha Alpha. It helps to lower your spin rate. I tried it and i saw a decrease in spin.

you can go to wrx forums and guys from that site are presently at the Callaway facility trying them all out with tons of pics...its on the pre-release equipment link. anyway, they are saying that the Big Bertha is a monster as far as distance is concerned.

So what does that thing in the middle do?

Inserted and adjusted, I believe it will reduce spin.

The thing is  the middle already comes with it.. if you move the weight to the top it will reduce spin on your drives, leave it at the bottom and the spin increases.

I'm pretty sure the Big Bertha will be $399 and Big Bertha Alpha will run $499.  The X2 Hot and X2 Hot Pro Driver will be $349.  These prices are MSRP so this is what you'd pay if you ordered today.

    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
    • WOW, it looks like he has been hitting stones with that putter to put all of those nicks into it.  I can't see how a ball would cause many those dings.
    • I'm fighting a knee as well as a foot so I "Feel your pain".  Luckily for me the PT is helping at this time and I am hoping knee surgery is not imminent.  Best of luck to you.
    • I would guess putting grooves in it might make it non-conforming. I am not sure how stringent the USGA is on restoring golf clubs.
    • If PT doesn't work, then all other options (shots) are just temporary bandages of the pain. You may do more damage. Pain is the bodies way of telling you to STOP. Once you get rid of that, you are just now using an already damaged body part and put more stress and strain on it.
