Help - upgrading Mac Mini hard drive

Replacing dying (clicking) hard drive in Mac Mini, OS 10.4 (Yeah, it's old, but it works good.) The drive is Bootcamped - there's Windows XP on it, but I don't want it on the new drive.

  1. Clone the original OS X partition to new drive in USB enclosure using SuperDuper! (GUID partition for Intel)
  2. Boot to new drive holding option key while starting up. If boots okay and Mac works just like it always did, then...
  3. Swap drives. Boot. Boots OK. Done?

Did I miss anything or are any of these steps wrong?

The other option would be to use Apple's Migration Assistant to pull your data (apps, user stuff, etc.) off the old drive. That's probably a "cleaner" way to go.

SuperDuper! is great though. Your plan should work. I've done versions of it several times.

Yes. I'd run all software updates as well - you'll be prompted to run Migration Assistant after the first boot but you can choose to do it later. Honestly though it might just be easier to do it then because then it won't have to erase or replace some settings and other things.

      I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
