Wind chill?

We haven't hit the positive numbers on a plain old temperature reading yet. And it's not like I live in Canada, or Minnesota, or something.

You're right, the regular temp this morning was in the positive single digits, so we got that going for us!  I guess it could always be worse, glass half-full, right?

This one thing is keeping me from going loco... Sounds like I'm playing racquetball.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

The golf mat I purchased came with a couple of these and I really like them. None of the stores in town carry them. Do you order yours online?

They aren't the same thing?

Snow, followed by rain, followed by snow today. A lot more snow in the forecast for tomorrow. Gonna be ugly.

Supposed to hit 30 degrees today...so I will probably try to hit a few balls at the heated range tonight after work. The heat doesn't work all that well and the stalls are open so it is ineffective against wind but its better than nothing. Next 4 days are supposed to be above freezing though, which is awesome. Hmm...never thought I'd be so pumped about temps in the high 30s.

So for all the crap I talked about the great weather we're having (high of 69 today) we've had almost zero rain. Drout and water rationing talks are heating up around here. Some counties near me have claimed to already have ran out of water. How does that happen?

Now for the big tease. The temps are going to be in the 50's over the weekend but there is still a significant snow cover. I gotta get out of here.

according to the National news last night, if it doesn't rain soon, you won't have much left of some golf courses. In your area they had a reporter standing on a dock in a marina, the trouble was there was no water in this very large reservoir and the dock should have been floating 100-150  feet higher than it was. It was laying on the crusty bottom of the reservoir. some meteorologists feel that this drought is cyclical & could last years.

From the lack of snow fall in the mountains, you could be in a world of hurt-

yeah my temps this am are up 10 degrees, yeah a real heat wave of 25*.This weekend shows promise of possibly breaking 40, we have had 14 straight weekends of snow occurring, this weekend it may rain

Same here it's going to be brutal. At least January is over and we're that much closer to spring.

Ugh!  20's all next week.  Guess the snow we got last night will not be going away soon.

Better hit the slopes this weekend.  At least I can snowboard on champagne snow.

Yep my house faces north snow everywhere. I shoveled for at least 40 minutes this morning. Actually had to turn around for home last night on the way to a party. Doubled up the mock necks to wear my Manning jersey today.

Going to Orlando 10 days from now, hope the weather cooperates! Here in Michigan it's been tough, extremely cold and snowy.

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
