This morning :( Sorry for the moderator ..this picture contains offensive material.

BAN HIM!

Oh wait, we've reached our limit of one for the month. You get a pass. :-D

I was gonna play disc golf this morning with my brother-in-law. I passed mainly because I need to get work done, but "mainly" only means 51%. The other big reason was that it's not cracked 40° yet… it's not like yesterday where it almost hit 50°. And tomorrow we're supposed to get 10-12".

Yup.

Here in Rochester, NY it's going up to 50 ° today & back to 30 tomorrow where it's expected we will get 8-12" of snow. Thank god for the sports dome down the road so I can keep working on my swing while mother nature figures out what season it is.

Trudged my way over to the adjacent golf course during lunch at work, snow is still over knee deep on the hillsides, and the exposed ground off the course is very muddy and soft (sunk in up to 4" into mud on the field next to the fairway). The course itself is still mostly covered in snow with a few patches of grass starting to become exposed.

(Note: I was not sinking into the fairway, I stayed on the edges for the most part so as not to mess up the course.)

Wait, you actually played in this? Our courses are simply closed until April here in NE Ohio. No questions asked, you simply cannot step foot on the course. Some of the nicer courses have their clubhouses open year round with dining/drinks and simulators, but the course itself is off-limits.

Nope, not played, simply walked over from the business park at lunch.

Whenever I think I have it bad, I remind myself that it can be worse!! At least I don't live here!! ................somebody always has it worse........LOL Hello? Is this pictures from Norway??? This year the golfers here in Norway looks to be inn for a real amazing season. 2013 was the longest season in years, from April - November, and now in 2014 many of the courses open this week! Woho, hope this will be the norm for the years to come. If not wanna move to Florida or something. Just need to find myself a job, im quite good at flipping burgers! Im so sick and tired of the winters and weather in this country. The normal summer with over 20 degrees Celsius is two months, Juli and August. Sure hoping for some global warming or something :l I even cant find white ferrules for my new wedges. And all the equipment in states, I could just wish. Had to order the 12 ferrules from the US. The price was 10 dollars, the postal was 30 dollars and the taxes was 10 more! And people wonder why we Norwegians get depressed :k

Car thermometer hit 70F today. Could have worn shorts to the range. I bet we're going to "transition" straight into summer. No pleasant spring. :-(

@iacas They're calling for 12" here in NE Ohio... and it's all heading your way. Just figured I'd give you the "live update" that I can't even see outside of my office window right now. This morning it was gently raining and around 40° at 6:30-7AM. Then the rain stopped at 8:30 AM... and gentle snow began to fall for about 2 hours. The last 90 minutes have been a damn blizzard and we've easily had at least 2" of fresh snow in that span of time (estimating 2"/hr throughout the next 6-8 hours). Time to invest in a mini putting green I guess. :censored:

I am also not looking forward to a 2-3hr commute this evening, which is what they're estimating for travel on I-71S, 271S and 77S from downtown Cleveland to Akron this evening. I'll need beer s to calm down when I walk in the door for sure.

Oh it's already here. They've already cancelled all after-school activities.

I've been using this website quite a bit..

http://www.myforecast.com/bin/expanded_forecast_15day.m?city=19327&metric;=false

It has been giving a relatively accurate 15 day extended forecast, and so far its looking like the last one for the Boston area.  We'll see.

Waiting to see how much if any snow we get tomorrow.  We got word today from the home course super that the course still has some snow on and is frozen in areas so it's at least 1 - 2 weeks before it will be open.

So much for getting a round or two in before Myrtle Beach trip.  Guess my warm up rounds will have to be on a simulator and mats.

Spring showed up for a few days down here but I had things to do and never got to play and take advantage of it.

Now winter is back again. Maybe this will be the last of it.

I wander out in the yard and hit a couple hundred golf balls every day and it seems like I'm hitting the ball better than I have in a couple of years so I'm getting anxious to play and find out.

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
