Winter Depression Thread

These next few months are my favorite here in Ohio. Cooler, but not yet cold. Fewer people. Faster rounds. Less sweating (yes, I'm fat). If the temp is over 40 degrees, I'm good.

:bugout: Y'all need to MOVE! I can't wait for November.....hopefully we'll get a little cooler weather by then.

Agree 100% it's starting to get to the best golf weather in the south. Mild not as humid and you can walk 18 without losing 100 pounds of sweat. Oct to early Dec and March to May are great in SC.

So after that a brief dusting of snow, it's suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow and even 80's on Sunday.

I am hoping to get out on Sunday early morning.

I hope this winter is NOT a snowy one.  Sure let it snow on the slopes, but keep it off the golf courses!  Then I can snowboard in the morning and play golf in the afternoon.  :-P

Got some up there eh? As usual the talking heads over-hyped it not one flake in Brighton. In fact on the way in I had to drive by the course and there were quite a few carts out there despite being 35 degrees. If I didn't have so much to do I'd leave early. Friday is my day to sneak out most weeks. Thankfully we can play in hoodies and jeans up here.

We got a little dusting last week. Up in the 60s now, but the end isn't far off.

Winter sucks. That's all I have to add for now.

Getting ready to end golf season and begin snowboarding season I guess...

It sucks more in Cleveland than Dayton... just sayin.

I do want to make it up there some weekend to visit the A Christmas Story house though.

I hate fall golf because of what it represents......the end of PRIME GOLF SEASON.  The days are getting shorter and the window of opportunity to play a "quick 18 " after work during the week is quickly closing.  I also need/want to play early on the weekends, and the frost season is quickly approaching!!!!!!    We haven't had a frost delay yet, but it's coming!  If the frost delay is long, I will skip playing or play less than 18 so I can stay on schedule..........so can take my son bowling at noon both Saturday and Sunday.  (1pm at the latest)...to stay on schedule!!!

Golf is my first game, but father/son time is top priority.   My weekend schedule is hectic because I play 18 early.....go home to change clothes...and then bowl for 4hrs with my son!  This makes for a long day.  We often bowl more than 15 games each...............after I play golf!   We've bowled as many as 22 each after golf :-O

My 12 yr old son throwing the ROCK.........

He averages close to 200.............

He's 12, barely weighs 83lbs soaking wet,  throws a 14lb ball.......and pretty well at that!!  He is an intense competitor.....  he's already bowled multiple games in the 270s!   His high game is 278.  I think it would be great if he can get a bowling scholarship for college.   I never bowled.......until my son got me started.  He got me bowling......

He can rip the rack....

Only about two maybe three weeks left of after work golf. Then it's just weekends. Not terrible but it's as depressing as it gets in fall/winter in the southeast. Definitely one reason I will never move back up north.

Summer is over in Calgary.....probably 3 weeks left of golf here. You will never meet someone who hates winter as much as I do. I live in the wrong part of the world.

I am ready for the break. Not as rabid about golf this year so my winter probably won't have much golf involved. I don't think I've played 5 times since 08/15 and it's still prime time. We can play all year here but it gets to the point where course conditions are so bad it really isn't worth it. Depending on how quick the snow starts we can golf through Nov with few changes. It will snow but it will be mild and warm most days. By the end of Dec the courses are hammered and really don't come back until May. Some of the worst golf I played in 2 years was last spring Mar-Apr. It was nice enough to get out but putting on the dormant greens was a waste of time.

Ditto. I saw a perfect job listing in Memphis, TN earlier today. So tempting.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
