Winter Depression Thread

It's been snowing since yesterday.  I am hoping the snow will stop sometime today and will all be gone by Sunday as my tee time at 10:46 is not looking good.

It was suppose to be just dusting of snow, but already it is about 2" by the golf course and about 7" up in my place (7400 ft of elevation).

I have not seen this much snow this early in the season for over 10-15 years.  It will be great for snowboarding, which I may be doing on Sunday if the courses are not open.

Gotta make lemonade if life throws you a lemon...

Just got an e-mail from a local club that says it's supposed to be 55 this Wednesday. I'm calling my buddy tomorrow to see if he wants to book a tee time. If the forecast turns out to be wrong, screw it! We just won't show up!

Currently snowing here in Ohio. 35o F at the moment. Tomorrow is supposed to get up to 45, and I am planning on playing sometime around 11. I just hope the rain and snow we have/had today doesn't make it too sloppy. If it's awful out there it might just have to be a range session.

It may stick around until January or later, honestly. I think the pile I made plowing my driveway is nearly 6 feet.

The 10+ inches of snow we received on November 11th is all gone.  My buddies and I played yesterday.  At around 9:30am it was 40 degrees and when we finished at 12:30pm it was sunny and 52 degrees with -0- wind.  An all around great day for the end of November.  Things do not look especially nice going forward but at least there is no significant snow forecast  for the next week or so.

No golf happening over here. We had a months worth of rain in about 48hrs. Parts of yorkshire still under water including the aptly named Fishlake. Really feel for those people affected by the floods.

I'm very glad i live high up and nowhere near a river, stream or canal.

I was out with an idiopathic disease for 3.5 years. Grow a pair, you wimps!!! 🤣

And yes, I’m going to play this annoying “I was out for X years” card on here til it’s worn to shreds so get ready for that 😜

Oh yea and since I’m technically an annoying golfer again, lemme give you guys some unsolicited advice. This is a great opportunity to eat your optimal diet and to get into the gym or rehab if you have some nagging issue like tennis elbow or something. April is really just right around the corner and what better way to kick that off than to be physically ready to go on day one? 💪😀

There have been witches burned for less!   Keep it up 😉

I found this:  If you are looking for reason, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.   Maybe not golf skills, but still skills!

    • Right. The difference between being 120 out and 70 out for me (this is the important part) is negligible and not worth putting other risks into play off the tee.   Ok the argument against driver is that my shot cone is comically large. It puts every possible outcome into play. You can't see the green from the tee so there's a good chance I'd have to wait for it to clear which would slow down play. That's the third tee right in the middle of the firing range there. I really don't want to wait just to hit a terrible shot and I especially don't want to injure somebody. Yea I have no problem playing out of the rough short of the bunker if I'm just going to lay up short of the bunker, but I absolutely need to avoid flaring it right into the penalty area if I'm going to be laying up in the first place. As a general strategy I understand where you're coming from. But since we're specifically talking about me (this is a shot I'm going to have to hit on Saturday), I think the cost is fairly marginal. I hit the ball 8' closer on average from 50-100 than I do from 100-150 from the fairway and rough and the green success % difference is 4%. Bunker might as well be a penalty drop. Based on the data,  Here's my SG:A data compared to a 10: I honestly don't know how to use SG for decision making. That's why I was mostly looking at proximity to hole and green success rate for comparison. I mostly use SG as a way to track my progress. All good. Like I said, I appreciate the discussion. It makes me think. If I didn't want to see alternative/opposing viewpoints to my own I just wouldn't post anything. You should post it! In your own swing thread, of course. It's been a fun exercise.
    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
    • day 34. Technique practice. Became too quick and outcome oriented. need to slow down and work on technique again.
