Stop regriping the club during the swing. You said 6 weeks? That isn't that bad disregard my first sentence. If you want a glove to last longer though keep it in a ziplock bag.

What flopster meant was 'don't wear it'.  Start with half your practice time with no glove for one month. Most of the wear occurs when hitting the longer clubs, esp driver. Then move to full time practice without and quickly find your hands getting tougher. Soon no more wasted dough on gloves. Only the pros, who get paid to appear with them, 'need' them. (to get the cash)

I like having soft hands. I guess 6weeks ain't so bad.

How often do you play?

Grip could be too much in your palm causing it to rub against the glove.

practice 3times per week. Hit about 2-3 medium buckets each visit.

I get holes in my fingers and not in the palm area. I was just complaining so manufacturers could read this and make the gloves more durable.

Currently you buy about eight gloves per year.

If they were twice as durable, you'd buy four.

I'm just saying… :D

I go through them a lot.   If it does not get worn out, it starts to stink (leather + sweat = stinky odor).   Can't get the smell out no matter what.   So, I just throw it away.   It helps to buy 5 at a time.

Just skip the glove all together, use the savings to regrip more often. You won't regret it.

A couple guys have said this.  Maybe you live places where it's almost never hot?  Or maybe you just naturally don't sweat much?  I love hitting with no glove, but unless it's cold enough that my hands don't sweat and warm enough that my hands don't go numb, either my hands get very slippery from sweat or they're numb :-P  For me that's a VERY small range of temperatures!

Fair enough, I only know my own enviroment. Last season was the first time I went all season with no glove and I can say with 100% honesty that not once did I think to myself, "gee I wish I had a glove." I used Winn-Lite medium grips and never had an issue. I'll be trying out a different grip next season (maybe Lamkin Crosslines) because the Winns wear out too fast so we'll see how that plays out but I'd be very surprised if I ever felt the need to go back to a glove. Fred Couples never wears a glove and I'm pretty sure he's played in all kinds of weather conditions...

I don't use a glove and never have. I bought one a few years ago but before I could give it a try a guy in our group was about to have a panic attack on the first tee because he had forgotten his glove, so I gave him my new one.

The one drawback for me is that it keeps me very picky about my grips. Probably half of the time when I pick up somebody's club I think to myself that the grip is too slick and I couldn't play with it.

My playing temperature range is from about 100 degrees to somewhere around freezing with southeastern humidity.

Pretty funny actually because they are "cheap" grips. Just joking. I always joke that if Avon knew how much I liked them they would charge me more.

After using just about every grip and never being completely happy with either durability or feel I stumbled on Avon Chamois (mid-size) and I doubt if I'll ever use anything else. Even when wet my grip has never slipped.

I didn't know they still made those. I think I'm going to give the Crosslines a try.

I like those too. Just not quite as good as the Chamois.

Good to know thanks. I'm not sure if Avons are readily available around here. End of highjack. Back on topic - don't bother with a golf, at least for 5 rounds, you may be pleasantly surprised but make sure your grips are in good condition.

Used to use them and wear them out. My solution is to just not use them anymore.

I think I might only if I needed to play somewhere it was hot and humid.

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
