Thank You for Bunker Shot Advice

I have always had MAJOR problems in the bunker. It is probably the most embaressing part of my game. (Usually takes me 2-3 shots just to get OUT of the bunker and even then its usually just over the lip OR thinned all the way across the green).

So I did some searching on this forum for advice last night and came across someone (can't remember who) talking about keeping flex in the lead leg on bunker shots, so figured I would try it as it was not advice anyone has ever given me for bunker shots (and I have gotten ALOT of advice from people).

I was absolutely amazed at how making this one change dramatically (and I mean dramatically) improved my bunker play! I worked on in at the practice bunker before my round today for about 30 mins. I did everything the same as I always did with the only difference being keeping the flex in my left leg / knee. In that 30 min practice time I honestly think I only hit 3-4 bad shots. I was in shock, I usually avoid even stepping in the practice bunker at my club because I know I will end up hitting someone on the green across the way.

Was only face with one bunker shot during my round thereafter and it worked out great as expected.

SO THANK YOU to whoever posted. I am also pretty surprised (and a bit angry) that none of the instructors I took lessons with EVER mentioned this!

Weird, I always did o.k. in the sand. I live near the beach and practice there. IMHO once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to get out, hitting an accurate bunker shot is another story..lol Just go for it. If you ever hit fat shots, just do that in the sand.
