Am I the only one who would like to see a PGA Tour event played on a dormant golf course? I have to play golf when the temps are above 40 degrees right now. I have to play golf on a brown golf course. I want to see these guys play golf in the same conditions that I have to play on a daily basis! There would be no way to get the course anywhere close to perfection. I want to see that!

lol I should have been more specific. In the US maybe in Jan.-Feb. in the transition zone, KS,MO,OK,TX?

Sounds like an event that most players would skip.....

That's exactly what I thought, it would be an event that would get less draw than Reno Tahoe, and then the winner gets a masters invite.

Clearly you guys have no idea of what winter in a cold climate is.

I don't see any "brown" in these pictures.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

The tour guys already worked their way through courses and conditions like that. That's one of the payoffs of working so hard and maximizing talent, you get to play the best courses in the world under the best conditions. Although there were a few rainy days during a PGA tournament last year.

It would be nice and more entertaining to see them play in less than perfect conditions, I'd agree with the OP there.

I think the PGA Tour could do with a little bit more diversity in terms of playing conditions.

It can get a bit boring at times when 20 under is the winning score for a few weeks in a row .

I would like to see how the Pros play in the wind a lot more, it's a vital skill in golf and it'd be nice to see the Pro's tested by it every now and again.

I voted no.  I would much rather watch them play Kapalua and other green lush courses while I am freezing my butt off in Boston.  The Irish Open and Open Championship mentioned above are unique events.  But they are played in the warmer times of year at those venues.

Id love to see a PGA Tour event played at Whistling Straits in January.  The Open Championship?  Meh.  Those Brits dont know what cold weather is.

This is what the match play has looked like the past couple years, does this count?

No Bridgestone test balls for Steve or Roger!!!

I would not want to see it. I have to deal with sub 50 weather maybe 2-3 times a year at tee time (with it generally in the 60s by the time we finish 9.

I am miserable for those first 9 holes and swear I will never do it again - I would not wish that on guys that struggle to finish a round in 5 hours.

I voted I do.  But then there already is a couple of tournaments played in the winter on dormant grass (off the fairway anyway)  The one that comes to mind is the Phoenix Open.

Don't really want to watch golf played in snow or play golf in snow. Thumbs down to the idea.

    • Didn’t get back to a decent routine in November and December as planned.  I really need to get up earlier and get to the 7 am CrossFit class… but I’m too tired. Right now getting in 3 times a week. Going to get some swing speed exercises in too.  January-April should be Monday - Friday, load up on supplements too.
    • “The stuff legends are made of…” 😁 As long as OEM’s keep replacing them…. But if it cracks 2 years in, you’re screwed on the warranty. the Cobra Dark Speed driver gets rave reviews.  Haven’t heard of breakage issues.  Taylormade now came out with the Qi35 heads.  Absolutely stunning but it’s a carbon fiber sole as well as the face and crown.  I guess we’ll see.
