There are a couple of things going on. Some celebrities may only play in the Wednesday Celebrity challenge (its rare to just play that, but it does happen). Its played on 1, 2, 3, 17, and 18,  with a hole in one challenge on 17. Most play in that and the tournament, which is like any other pro-am where the amateurs have to make the cut. There is a 54 hole cut on Saturday that brings it down to 60 pros and 25 amateurs for Sunday. There are also random amateurs (non celebrities) just like any other pro-am.

Cannot make it out today, but will hopefully make it out the next few days if I can get out of the office!

This is going to be my first time seeing the pros live, and the first time seeing Pebble other than from behind the green on 18 watching people play in. I'll get to be there for a practice round tomorrow and also Friday's round. I can't wait!

What a day and what an event. I was able to get to PB at about 7:30 this morning, and walked all 18 at both PB and Spyglass, seeing both for the first time. I don't think my jaw came off of the ground until I was back on a shuttle home. So beautiful. The course conditions look incredible, though we are in for some wet weather this week/weekend in the Monterey Peninsula.

At Spyglass, I caught up to Dustin Johnson playing with the future-dad-in-law. There was NO ONE at Spyglass, as most people had made their way to Pebble for the 3M Celeb Challenge. But with this group, there were 20-30 following, 95% were following with 10 Gretzky jerseys each. DJ was going hole-to-hole with no one even looking at him, and Gretzky was signing autographs at every hole. Wonder if that had anything to do with them only playing 9.....

Another highlight was getting to chat with Mark Wilson and Doug LaBelle as I followed their group (including Aaron Badds) to finish up. Both were so nice and happy to talk--really hope they do well. LaBelle particularly seems like the nicest dude ever.

I'll be back on Friday, and hope to catch Phil and Jason Day at Pebble. I'm throwing in a few favorite photos and videos in the next post!!

Thanks for posting your photos and hope you have a great time, even with the fowl weather.

Here is the link to the Pro-Am leaderboard

Gretzky must be playing great (or sandbagging with his future son-in-law).

Hopefully they get all the rounds completed, as it is much more of a logistics issue playing over 3 courses and having to finish a round on one, then making it to the next course for your tee time.

Players play, tough players win!

Cool to see Andrew Loupe at the top of the leaderboard (for now at least). We played against each other growing up in junior tournaments and were both at LSU at the same time. Hopefully he can string 3 more good rounds together and get a solid finish.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
