Oh, I don't mind the cold that much. However, we've gotten a LOT of rain the past 2 days, and it's supposed to rain more Monday and Tuesday. After that, the highest temperature we'll have  is 36, next Tuesday. Soggy and mostly in the low-30s isn't a good time for golf, haha. By the time it dries up, I'm betting the snow starts to kick in (note: It snowed TWICE in November, but hasn't in December).

Hopefully there's some kind of break where the warmth comes back, as I'd rather not wait 2.5-3 months to golf again.

I would like the dashboard to have the capabilities to breakdown an evaluation of each hole. See every shot on any specific hole ( with options for last 10 rounds, 20, etc.)

It would be useful for players who play any course an abundant of times or on a regular basis. Color codes would be awesome for bird, par, bogey and others.

Putts made on each green. Again, colors for certain distances. Highlight "One putts" on holes. Highlight "holed" shots.

Rank holes per scoring average. I like this feature. It shows me where I need evaluate my game on the holes which have been played poorly and best. Again, choose number of rounds.

Nice.

Yeah, I'm reading the reviews including the ones here the Arcos system is about $250 while the GG Live is about $248. The advantage is I don't need to lug around my rangefinder (that I never use anyway) as well.

Arcos does not conform to USGA regulations while GG does. Not sure that that means?

Playing in 40F is not so bad as long as there is no wind. . .I played in 48F which dropped rapidly into 40F conditions with 45mph gusts and 30mph winds yesterday. It took a 5i for me to get pin high on a 135 yard par 3 directly against the wind. My older playing partners used 4i, hybrid and 3W. On the "plus" side, I hit a 250 yard approach shot with a hybrid in the opposite direction. Planned to layup 50 yards away in a safe landing area and ended up on another holes cart path pin high right 20 yards. Apparently, this weather is very common in that area. However, even my home course has strong winds and gusts throughout the winter months, because they are in a valley.

I think because with Arccos system it requires you to use your phone in order for the data to be captured whereas with Game Golf Live, it can gather the data the way the Classic system does.

As for purchasing the Classic version, I'm sure you can buy it used, like on EBay.

Yes, but I can also purchase from RFKbay too right? Unless you already sold it. :-)

Amazon is currently my strategy, and Live looks interesting at $248.

Speaking of Game Golf additions... I noticed this morning that the Strokes Gained statistics have been made a little more robust.  Instead of measuring strokes gained against a scratch golfer now you can measure against specific handicap ranges.  Also, you can do strokes gained for specific rounds.

Now if they can just show me where i lost strokes for specific holes for each round that would be the final piece to the puzzle.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've made a new thread to discuss ongoing Strokes Gained updates for GAME GOLF.

One thing that I wish Game Golf did a little differently.  When I am previewing the course, I wish that I could preview it as if it was a GPS.  I would love to look at a given hole, pick a tee box and then plot out shots so that I can determine what distances I want to hit on that hole before I get to the course.

Currently you can review other players rounds who played that course but often those players abilities/scores do not align with my abilities so it is difficult to properly plan for a course that I haven't played with any regularity.

That's a good note. I'll add it to our list.

I got around that one by creating a fake empty round at my two favorite courses and then adding the shots manually. I never sign the rounds and so can always go back to them and change strategies, clubs, distances and the like easily.

One thing I wish Game Golf did was filter things a little better for the Strokes Gained analysis. For example, it told me that I need to improve my approach shots from >250 yds. and could pick up .83 strokes. This was totally useless since I can't hit the ball that far. I know why it did that - because on a par 5 I'd duffed my tee shot + second shot and was short with my 5W by 100 yds on my third shot a couple of times, even though I hit that 210 yds. So no guys, I can't improve those shots. I need to not duck hook the tee shot and not top the next one. It ignored the plethora of data of approach shots from 125-150 yds. where I would have been most curious as to how many strokes I could pick up.

The putting data and short game data was pretty accurate.

The snow should melt within a week or two, and I'm anxious to take mine out and test it out! Fingers crossed for no more snow and more sunny weather.

I was going to buy Game Golf last year but put it off as I had a lot I was working on. I was looking at it again and now see that you can get the tags only. Am I understanding it right, in that if you have an Android phone with NFC that you only need to get the tags ?

I finally got to test it out today, when there was one course open nearby for the today, and today only (it started snowing again this evening).

http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Pretzel/round/723397

I had fun, but I did forget to tag twice. For some reason it added an additional shot on one hole telling me it wasn't tagged, because it for some reason thought I missed the green when I actually hit the green and two putted. I definitely am looking forwards to using it over the summer to try and identify my strengths and weaknesses, though I think I found the biggest problem for this round (though I know it's because the greens were heavily sanded and very wet, with snow still remaining in spots):

Yes. Pretty much.

Though if you change to a new phone you'll have a set of tags and no GG belt unit.

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
