So I always buy a Powerball ticket, using my birthdate as the Powerball number and my siblings' birthdates for the other five numbers. I didn't have the Powerball number, but I had 4 of the other 5. If I had all 5 it would have been worth a million bucks!! As it is, 4 of 5 is only $100.

$100 is not a stick in the eye, but it's a bummer that having 5 numbers and having 4 out of 5 is that much of a difference.

Damn, that would've bought a lot of golf balls! :-) FWIW, mathematically, since so many people use birthdays to pick their numbers, and because there are relatively few "birthdays" available to pick, your chances of being the sole winner are greatly reduced by using them. You're much better off with a random quick pick. It doesn't increase the likelihood that you'll win, but it greatly increases the likelihood that if you do win, you won't have to split it with anyone else.

Probably. But I did it once, and then my Irish superstition set in and I have to do it all the time now, in case those numbers ever came up. :-(

The lottery.......America's tax on people who are bad at math. ;-)

.....and yeah, I've been known to throw a couple of bucks at it too.  You can't dream if you don't at least buy a ticket.

I rarely ever play lottos, but that is precisely why I make it a point to never use the same numbers, too easy to slip into a "I HAVE to play mentality". Can't imagine the feeling of seeing "your" numbers come up on a week that you have decided not to play so I just make sure not to have "my" numbers. Y'know?

I play the same numbers but only on the games with better odds. Didn't arrive at it randomly though. If you look at ranges of past winning numbers a few come up often. Our state site has a tool to check numbers. You can toss anything in there and it highlights every time that number comes up for a range of dates. The game I play most 8-11-20 are drawn frequently so I pair those with other numbers and I play 4 draws of the same strings to get some of my money back. I spend $18 a week now and since I started playing I am up about 12kish. I matched 5 of 6 on the state lotto last year and the number I didn't match was just one off. Which probably means nothing but the prize was around $1200.

I made it back.  Fishing was ok.  Pretty neat experience though.

@Ernest Jones , I was kind of let down though.  Canada did not really look any different than Minnesota.......

Golf the International Falls course some time if you ever make it up that far when it's warm. At the turn, tee up to the left and you can hit it from the US to Canada across the Rainy River. At least I think you can, have to have a pretty long carry though if I remember correctly.

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
